That’ll be the trains off then

  1. Utterly ridiculous. Fifty thousand people trying to get hame and no trains on. Fucking shameful.

  2. I realise I’m being a bit facetious here.

It seems it’s due to a driver shortage and not wanting to work rest days, which is absolutely correct.

It seems they are also trying to recruit 160 new drivers.

You would think there would be vacancies you could apply for to be a train driver?

    *insert Padme meme*

  3. Trains have been fucked all day.

Was hoping to get a train to shawlands, nothing between 1 and 4, absolute shitshow honestly.

  4. Someone message them saying Taylor Swift is playing

  5. “Hi. We know that tens of thousands of you will be in the largest city in Scotland on this specific date, but fret not, we’ve made absolutely no effort at all to accommodate this.”

  6. There’s a shortage of staff with the trains at the moment. Lots been getting cancelled all over the place.

  7. The drivers are on strike, they’ve timed it perfectly to create maximum inconvenience/pressure on management.

  8. Hasn’t this been the case for the past few years? I remember having to leave really sharp the year Capaldi played to make the last train home.

I get that there is industrial action the now but even when the Fringe is on the trains aren’t much later than they would be any other time of the year

  9. I’m confused. People say being a train driver is really easy for great pay.

Why are there shortages? Are those people just lying? Surely everyone would want to be a train driver.

  10. This is why train drivers are so well paid—their strike action is massively disruptive.

  11. I remember going the first year when Radiohead played. By the time we got out there was no other option but to just walk back to Hyndland.

  12. It’s disgraceful. So they striked, got more money and it continues to be unreliable and expensive. I always think it can’t get worse but what I’ve realised recently is that things can always get worse

  13. As someone who works for Scotrail I will just say this. The government have pushed back talks since April offering a piss poor attempt of 1% as a pay rise.

Drivers are working to rule so no over time or over your day. Higher ups have been increasing the number of trains without hiring enough staff.

The railway has ALWAYS ran on rest day working and overtime.

Theirs a ballot going out for an official strike, which most likely will be passed.

Working conditions keep being put in the table and they are trying to fleece us.

If you had managers taking the piss you would do the same. Remember it’s the government that set the ticket prices and people who have never worked a train that make up the time tables.

Hopefully this will be resolved soon.
