  1. Hope you all notice we constantly get conflicting reports on what’s happening or what was said.

That’s intentional, it creates confusion and fog of war. Don’t twist yourself in knots trying to figure shit out, you’ll know when you need to know.

Ukraine is in a war for survival, and deception goes a long way. The UK in WW2 were masters of this and it possibly made WW2 a 5 year war instead of a 10 year/lost war

  2. There’s no way they can afford
to say no, even if it stretches their resources temporarily they can’t afford the possibility Sweden changes its mind later.

  3. >our Defence Ministry [communicates] with corresponding Swedish bodies. These fighter jets are as good as the F-16s. So we are moving in this direction.”

    >Sweden’s Foreign Minister Tobias Billström stated that it happened due to Ukraine’s conclusion, as it found managing both F-16 and Gripen fighter jet systems simultaneously “too challenging”

Ukraine cannot maximize fast-tracking on both systems at once. Once the F-16 program is functioning enough, they’ll move some resources to integrate Gripen as well. Each jet has its own advantages for Ukraine.

  4. Yep, it matches with what I think is going on.
Gripen was planned to be delivered in the near future

    >The Swedish Jas Gripen plane **can be in place in Ukraine as early as midsummer 2024** if the government makes such a decision, sources told DN.

    >According to the newspaper, Ukrainian pilots and technicians are currently in Sweden for training on the plane’s systems.

    >Our position is that it is international law that applies and then you must be clear that Russia has started an unprovoked and illegal war. **Ukraine has the right to defend itself inside and outside its territory**,

    >Sweden is being asked to pause plans to send the Jas Gripen to Ukraine, Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M) tells TT.

    >The announcement comes in Brussels **after Jonson had “intensive talks”** with other countries in the air defense coalition that helps Ukraine with aircraft and air defenses.

    >- **We have been urged by the other countries that run the coalition to pause Gripen**. It has to do with the fact that the focus is now on introducing the F-16 system, Jonson explains.

    Support package of $1.25 billion
    >Sweden will send Airborne Surveillance and Control aircraft (ASC 890) to Ukraine and thus strengthen its air defence capability. Sweden will donate its entire stock of armoured tracked personnel carriers (PBV 302) to support the reconstruction of new Ukrainian brigades. Sweden will also donate artillery ammunition and resources for maintenance of previously donated materiel.

    >The exact cost of the ASC 890 is not disclosed, but in 2023, Poland purchased two such systems from Sweden for $58 million.

    $1.25 billion is a lot more than $58 million…
    Midsummer was June 22 btw
