Republicans Immediately Seize on Trump Rally Shooting to Incite More Violence

  1. >Around 30 minutes after the shooting, Republican Rep. Mike Collins of Georgia tweeted, without any evidence, that Biden “sent the orders” for the shooting. He later posted that Biden should be prosecuted for “inciting an assassination” on social media. …

    >Trump’s calls for political violence have, in contrast, been much more explicit — like when he recently promised a “bloodbath” if he lost the 2024 election. He has openly called for his supporters to shoot left-wing activists. In a speech on January 6, 2021, he told his followers to “fight” just before they stormed the Capitol in an attempted coup, during which five people died. Republicans have also embraced figures like Kyle Rittenhouse, who traveled across state lines in 2020 and shot three Movement for Black Lives activists, killing two.

    >Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance, currently the favorite for Trump’s vice presidential pick, said that Biden’s political rhetoric against Trump “led directly to” an attempt on Trump’s life — in essence saying that criticism of the right is an incitement of violence.

    >“The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs,” Vance wrote on social media. The statement seemingly lays the groundwork for the right to implement crackdowns on political rhetoric from those who criticize Trump and others on the right.

    >That Trump is an “authoritarian fascist” isn’t even a claim he necessarily denies; Trump has openly stated his desire to be a dictator in the past, and has praised right wing dictators and despots many times.

  2. Incite more violence against other republicans who don’t want the party’s nominee to be a felonious pedophile rapist? Because that seems to be what’s happened here.

  3. There is safety in numbers. I would recommend anyone left leaning to join their city/county’s Democratic clubs/caucus. It’s only by being organized will we be able to resist tyranny.

  4. “Due to the unacceptable increase in violence , in my capacity as president, to preserve the peace in these United States I am suspending the election indefinitely”

Do it to them before they get the chance.

  5. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://truthout.org/articles/republicans-immediately-seize-on-trump-rally-shooting-to-incite-more-violence/) reduced by 85%. (I’m a bot)

    > Congressional Republicans and prominent right wing figures immediately leapt to action to incite violence against President Joe Biden and the left shortly after a shooting during a Donald Trump rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

    > Around the same time, House Judiciary Committee Republicans also posted a message implying that the shooting was Biden's fault, based on reports of a private call with donors this week in which Biden apparently said that "It's time to put Trump in the bullseye" – a common metaphor taken out of context by the right in order to attack Biden.

    > Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance, currently the favorite for Trump's vice presidential pick, said that Biden's political rhetoric against Trump "Led directly to" an attempt on Trump's life – in essence saying that criticism of the right is an incitement of violence.

  6. I am a gun-owning American who grew up a conservative Republican and did a lot of militia, survival, and SHTF training. I am no longer conservative and I distanced myself from these people once they shifted from talking about hating terrorists and Russians to hating Obama and liberals.

What I can tell you is this is a wet-dream for a [boogaloo moment](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boogaloo_movement). It’s what many of them have prepared their entire lives for.

It doesn’t matter who is responsible, there are *many* people on the right who not only want this they’ve been stir crazy and salivating.

If you haven’t seen the recent movie “Civil War” this is precisely why that movie was made. I suspect we’ll see Martial Law within a couple of months.

The only way to prevent this was escalating is for both Trump and Biden to step down and for the RNC and DNC to come together on a compromise on who will be the next President. That is the *only* way this country heals and simmers down.

The biggest unknown right now is how involved Russia and China are. I know of a least a couple of military/LEO guys who have hinted at getting “help” from them at some point. I’m sure many politicians are also on the take secretly. So we’ll see…

  7. “This is gonna incite violence from MAGA.” Stick it on the pile with the other MAGA violence incitement.

“He just created an iconic picture for MAGA to rally around.” Stick it on the pile with all the other iconic pictures that MAGA rallies around.

“Evangelicals will say that it’s a sign of God’s favor with Trump.” Stick it on the pile with all the other Evangelical rhetoric about Trump.

“There saying Biden ordered Trump to be assassinated.” Stick it on the pile with all the other MAGA propaganda about how Biden is out to eliminate Trump.

I feel like all the MAGA insanity over years has really deflated anything new they have to say. The only people this is going to affect are the people already voting for Trump. Otherwise, just another day in MAGA-infected USA.

  8. It’s a voter suppression tactic, but if republicans want to keep shooting at each other, the rest of us won’t get in the way.

  9. What’s frightening is the use of the word “more”.

Inciting violence is normal for them, and now they’re stepping it up.

  10. This goes to show how demonic these people are, pushing for more violence, but mike johnson is pushing to turn down the rhetoric down, which way is it. CPAC stands for satan, and his followers the demonic.

  11. And if Trump encourages this, the independents will vote Biden. So it will be very interesting how he handles this.

  12. CPAC, the self proclaimed domestic terrorists know a thing or 45 about domestic terrorists.

  13. Couldn’t find any part of the article that shows evidence of any inciting of violence. Why is this trash upvoted?

  14. A republican shoots at a republican and some how it is Biden’s fault?

  15. Rape, murder, arson, and rape.

    You said rape twice?

    I like rape.

  16. > I go back and forth between thinking Trump might be a cynical asshole like Nixon who wouldn’t be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he might be America’s Hitler – JD Vance

  17. It’s a shame because it’ll just increase violence even for them

  18. I thought we were turning the temperature down on the rhetoric.

  19. Alternate take: What if Trump learns something from this and tones down his own rhetoric….in the mold of an American History X type epiphany. Ah well….a guy can hope.

  20. r/politics: It’s the Republicans! They’re everything wrong with the country! We need to stop them at any cost!

r/politics when someone uses violence against republicans: ….It’s the Republicans fault!
