  1. If Biden wins maybe he should ban gas cars as retribution.

  2. >The American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers, a trade group with major fossil fuel members, announced multimillion ad buys this year spotlighting state and federal policies for new car production. The ads urge viewers in the key presidential and Senate swing states of Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, Montana, Ohio and Texas to oppose Biden-era rules that improve fuel economy. AFPM’s ads claim, without evidence, that the rules ban gas vehicles.

Sounds about right. Millions of dollars spent to push misinformation.

  3. Is it the right’s elect Trump strategy to just lie repeatedly in the knowledge that after years of Trump’s mendacity huge swaths of the populace don’t care about truth anymore.

    >”What you are seeing and what you are reading is not what is happening”

    Donald Trump

    >”Truth isn’t truth”

    Rudy Giuliani

  4. I…have legitimately never heard someone mention this.

  5. A little boy on my daughter’s school bus told her that Joe Biden is bad because he banned guns.

So yeah, Republicans believe a lot of bullshit that has no basis in reality.

  6. Anger is a mobilizing emotion,” said Dustin Carnahan, associate professor in the department of communication at Michigan State University.

And by spreading these false claims, it’s trying to get : Misinformed Republicans angrier.

People and corporations that spread lies should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Just like the tobacco industry and Fox.

  7. The man whose prized possession is a Corvette, sure Jan.

  8. “Above the fold” is judging the story just by the headline.

This is better, but still off. A quick cursory read is going to get people to think he does.

The better headline would be “Republicans push ads with Fake claim of Gas Car Ban”

  9. Same as my gas stove being banned and now I have to cook with sticks and rocks.

  10. How are they allowed to run ads with blatantly false information?

  11. Republicans lie constantly. No wonder they get along so well with Putin.

  12. if that’s a false narrative that you are trying to debunk then TRY WRITING A BETTER FUCKING HEADLINE

  13. It’s amazing how much money people will spend over some bullshit rethoric. The economy loves it, the ad takers love it. And are laughing all the way to the bank.

  14. Republicans when electricity makes you move instead of fossil fuels: 🤯🤬😱😡

  15. Gas car ban, gas stove ban, they’re coming for your hamburgers and beer…

  16. Remember when the idiot left said nobody is trying to ban gas appliances and that it’s a crazy right wing conspiracy?

    I do.

Let’s ask Washington State and New Jersey and New York and Denver about that. Which party controls those governments?

  17. When Trump himself said you can’t buy bread without showing ID, I mean what do you expect. They’re just making shit up as they go.

  18. Just like we will only be able to cook our burgers made of crickets on electric stoves.

  19. Has Biden created a ban on ICE vehicles. No. Has Biden use the EPA to set standards and requirements that moving forward won’t be able to be met by ICE vehicles. Yes. So while it isn’t an outright ban, it sure feels like a de facto ban. The biggest issue I see is that we lack the infrastructure to support it, and the technology is still in its infancy. don’t get me wrong, I like EV’s like the Rivian so I have no issue with seeing more of them in the market. All the auto makers seem to be abandoning their EV programs right now

  20. GOP’s plans to turn out their voters is via *concocted* issues and fear mongering. Remember CRT? Also, migrant caravans, drag in libraries, pride at Target stores, DEI, trans, etc.

  21. And Republicans “don’t have a national abortion ban in their policy platform.”

People are allowed to read between the lines an infer from state level policy where the party is headed.

If Democrats want to make this clear they can publicly pledge no gas car ban and no phaseout. But that would be incorrect, wouldn’t it? Phaseout to ban is the end goal of the platform. Don’t try to doublespeak and say you have no ban when you are working towards one.

  22. It’s almost like the right just lies and says whatever is expedient in the moment, whether it’s about attempted assassinations or cars

  23. Biden needs more aggressive coms. He should have never-Trump republicans running his coms. They are better at this.

  24. This is American politics. Democrats have to defend against stuff they never said/ done, and Republicans don’t have to defend against stuff they say/did

  25. The same Biden that flew from Delaware to DC last night? It’s like 100 miles.

  26. This is probably cross-talk with propaganda in Canada

  27. “Whose Right-Wing Talking Point is It Anyway,” where the grievances are made up and the policies don’t matter!

  28. Wait until people hear about his ban on miniature giraffes…

    Republicans lie…film at never o’clock.

  29. Even if for some odd reason you wanted us to continue using ICE vehicles, why wouldn’t you want better fuel economy? That’s just dumb.

  30. Presidents (and former presidents) aren’t allowed to drive. Of course he wouldn’t own one.

  31. This is peak misinformation because if anything, Biden is making it much harder for Americans to buy EVs.

This lie is specifically targeted towards the rural Republican demographic, those who still reply on ICE vehicles because their communities don’t have EV infrastructure.

  32. Of course he doesn’t. Because that would literally destroy the country.

Like, no exaggeration, millions would be starving to death within a week. We would be looking at Pol Pot numbers in terms of forced starvation. The modern world cannot function without gasoline without a slow and methodical transfer to a different form of energy.

  33. Yes, this is the news headline we are all clamoring to read.

  34. I’m actually convinced Republicans have mentally broke so much they’re legitimately living in another reality.

Like they one day decided to stop believing in the truth and wake up everyday ready to be reprogrammed by Fox News or whatever far right rabbit hole they decide to fall into.

  35. A limit on emissions is what it is.

Either way, the rules have been delayed by a few years to appease auto unions and car manufacturers.

  36. I’m pretty sure Joe owns a ‘67 Corvette, and is quite proud of it.
