  1. Yeah but he biffed some lines so the message will be ignored

  2. You heard it from the President twice. November 5th is the “Battle Box”

  3. How does the sign language person react I wonder? Are they signing the teleprompter? Are they trying to sign whatever Biden says?

  4. He almost said Make America Great Again at one point lol

  5. So Gov Whitmer released a longer statement than the 6 min from Biden with stronger language. Is there a time-line where she replaces Biden at the convention with Joe’s permission and is able to run against Trump as another survivor of other radical extremists bent on destroying the country and causing political violence? From a swing state…it’s a decent angle right?

  6. What is the “Battle Box” and how can I get tickets?

  7. What an absolute failure from your secret service

  8. So if I’m following correctly. Donald Trump is no longer an existential threat to our country and life as we know it. He’s a decent man, a friend, a neighbor, deserving of our prayers, as are his supporters, and Biden just has differing political views.

    Glad he clarified

  9. This has been the news for two days now. Republicans need to ‘get over it.’

  10. What’s this bullshit! All the violence, including shooting DT comes from the right.

  11. I don’t care how old he is, President Biden is displaying the kind of leadership we need.

  12. This speech makes something clear that the craziness of the past few weeks has obscured: our president is a good, decent man. This is the speech we needed right now.

  13. I see it as learning how to be better at handling our differences with each other. I’m exhausted by the whole “You don’t agree with me, so, you are my enemy” mentality.

  14. I was in a bar when this came on (Fox News) and someone at the bar said “Biden is ruining this country!!!”

    WTF

  15. Sorry, I can’t care about republican on republican violence.

  16. If I was Biden I’d enact the crush domestic terrorism act of 2024 and direct resources to mental health resources and jail extremists.

  17. Was this politically motivated or was this just another young person obsessed with gun culture and violence? Why is everyone so quick to assume this was politically motivated? We don’t know the shooters motive.

  18. Neither should schools or malls or anywhere else, but here we are.

  19. If politicians don’t want a “blood bath”, then they need to stop inciting violence.

The bastard brought it on himself. Full stop.

  20. If the roles were reversed I’m sure Trump would be a disappointment with what he would respond with.

  21. I get the sentiment but the problem here is that dems refuse to acknowledge the current political reality and keep pretending it’s the 90s. They need to grow a spine and stop accepting empty words from republicans and to hold them accountable. The republicans came out of Jan 6th the same way with boilerplate lip service about unity and we all know how that turned out.

Biden should have called out Trump’s lies about election fraud and said that turning down the rhetoric starts with stopping the election fraud lies and accepting responsibility for the damage those lies caused. The democrats need to draw a line. You’d think that line would be not showing sympathy for a domestic terrorist that orchestrated a coup, but no, the dems show sympathy and in part continue to normalize Trump’s behavior.

  22. They would never treat Joe with the same respect.

  23. I’m tired of living in historical times. I didn’t sign up for any of this shit.

  24. This speech was calm, rational, and sensitive. It didn’t lay blame or incite further speculation, wild theories, or partisan blameshifting.

It’s so hard to watch this and then see the response of Mike Collins, MTG, and other Republicans. They are so dramatically different in approach. It’s painful to see the contrast.

  25. Imagine if the tables were reverse, no way in hell Donald Trump would have an Oval Office address like this.

  26. just imagine what rhetoric we would hear if the tables would be turned…

  27. I just have a question about the writer’s choice of wording…. How come he calls Biden President in the first paragraph and through the rest of the article it’s Mr Biden? As far as I know he’s still President till at least January so his title shouldn’t change after the 1st paragraph.

  28. Now would the time for Biden to throw out an F-bomb, during a speech…..”calm the fuck down “. Something epic….

  29. If this were trump he would talk about how the shooter was slaughtered by the USSS and begged for his life, then go on some random political rant, etc

  30. One thing that has stuck out to me in all of this is how quick Democrats like Biden and Obama, and non-MAGA Republicans like Romney, have been to denounce violence in politics when getting the same statement out of Trump has been like squeezing blood from a stone.

  31. Seeing a lot of rhetoric saying we need to bring down the temperature by not calling people Nazis and Fascist. If we can’t call a fascist a fascist or say someone has Hitlerian policies is like Hitler, then how should it be addressed?
