  1. BH2 Infantry Regiment was Austria-Hungary’s most decorated unit with as many as 48 individual golden medals for bravery. One of its members, Hauptmann Gojkomir Glogovac, even became a Baron in 1917 by winning the Military Order of Maria Theresia. Every year in June, the Austrian military and prominent Bosnian military, political and religious figures celebrate the victorious Mt. Meletta victory at the cemetery in Lebring (near Graz), Austria.

  2. One of the most incompetent generals of WWI, stubborn and out of touch with the evolution of warfare.

His only competition for “most incompetent” is Luigi Cadorna who tried to do the same thing again…and again…and again…12-13 times. They all failed (the Battles of the Isonzo).

  3. If there is one man that can be held responsible for WW1 it has to be von Hötzendorf.

He was a warmonger that wanted to wage war against Italy (while this country was allied with Austria-Hungary) and Serbia. He pushed for war a couple of times and finally got his wish in 1914.

The sad story is that by 1914 he knew that his country was in no position to win a war and he still did it.

He also was a bad general/chief of staff. His tactics, especially moving an entire army between Galicia and Serbia and thus not taking part in any of the fronts, helped Serbia fend off the first Austrian offensive while having his army crushed by Russia.
