Shocked to hear about episodes like this https://today.rtl.lu/news/luxembourg/a/2213837.html, when on Reddit quite a lot of us have favorable – even somewhat rosy – views on teaching in Luxembourg. Now there is apparently a dissatisfaction rate of over 80% among those in the profession itself
So what is going on? afaik there are no "American situations", school yard police stations or in-class metal detectors in Luxembourg so what would cause our teachers to become so disillusioned with a career that's otherwise still respected and looked up to?

The article is about a single school, not the profession as a whole
If you read the article, the 89% dissatisfaction rate relates to teachers from LBJM, so it reflects only for this one establishment. Now I am not saying that there is no dissatisfaction at a Luxembourgish scale, however it is a huge leap to go on to say 80% dissatisfaction rate in Lux, there is a difference between a localised problem and a systemic problem to this degree. Will have to wait for the study mentioned at the end to have a clear idea.
The article relates to problems between teachers and the director of a specific school. Â
Also teaching is not respected anymore. Between helicopter parents second-guessing teachers at every turn, threats received as a result of teaching certain subjects, violence by parents/students, being a teacher in most countries is a fairly sh**** job.Â
The only thing that Lux has going for it is that it pays teachers a more than decent salary. That in itself does however also attract people that aren’t interested in teaching in the first place.Â
Isn’t this at a single school? In which case it is not really surprising, toxic management in any “company” will be highly demotivating.
