I’m always amazed when europhiles gush over Verhofstadt since he’s one of the more vocal pro-EU voices. But guess those people don’t know his policy history or don’t care.
Your average politician in neo-liberal Europe? Unlike Sihame, he’s got his paperwork in order at least.
And they’re not even mentioning the lobbying and other “extra’s” they put in their pockets. I hate Verhofstadt and not because I’m jealous of his money. That dude’s only got money on his mind. During the ttip/ceta shit he said it was unbelievable that one party (PS i think it was) could hold back something that had been agreed upon by every other memberstat of the EU. And that this should be impossible to do in the future, because there were even more treaties coming. He ignored the fact that ttip and ceta were abominable for the whole eu. Only america and/or canada were going to profit from this. Apart from people like him who filled their pockets with lobbying money. The way he spoke was just so annoying. He really deserved a baseball bat to the face. I don’t think it has become any better since then.
He’s a scumbag. I remember the Pano documentary where they revealed how he stifled green energy research in universities and got paid for it by Electrabel. The journalist booked an interview with him under the guise of discussing another issue, but when the journalist pressed him on the green energy matter, Verhofstadt got mad and killed the interview then and there.
I just can’t stand the guy.

In elk ander beschaafd land, zat die corrupte politicus al jaren in de gevangenis. Maar hier kan hij doen wat hij wil en kan hij corrupt zijn zoals hij wil. Want er is geen enkel rechtssysteem in België om corruptie tegen te gaan. Europa eiste dat we een anti corruptie eenheid zouden oprichten en onze regering zei doodleuk, NEE. De volledige politieke elite in dit land is zo corrupt als het kan en we kunnen er niets tegen doen.
