“It highlighted that Glezmann traveled to Afghanistan in December 2022 on a five-day trip to explore the country’s cultural landscape and history.”
Lol, well he’s getting a thorough cultural experience now.
>Glezmann turned 65 years old during his wrongful detention, and his physical and mental health is rapidly declining due to the stress and harsh conditions, according to the resolution, which expressed the family’s fear that he may not survive his detention.
C’mon Taliban, why don’t you detain those youtube influencers instead of a senior citizen? At least the jihadists in Africa have medications in stock.
It’s not really an adventure unless you can die.
Typically fuck around found out situation here. Just follow the law, is it so hard?

the taliban is jealous they’re not getting the attention they once had
US Gov’t: You can keep those two American diplomats if you help us get Wiz Khalifa out of Romania for smoking weed.
What the fuck are Americans doing in Afghanistan? I’m sorry, but we’ve all known it’s an absolute shit hole for what, at least the past 40 years or so? That’s on you if you’re dumb enough to still go there. I hope our government doesn’t waste too many resources on these fools.
So much ignorance these days. Leave them there.
These idiots are placing our troops in harm’s way rescuing them.
Do I feel bad? Yes
Do I also not feel bad? Yes
Let them rot there. Imbeciles.
Maybe this is naive but how is Afghanistan not on some list of banned places to travel for the U.S? Even people from their say they will never go back to see family.
*Meanwhile, the US Congress has also passed a resolution demanding the immediate and unconditional release of George Glezmann and all other American citizens and lawful*
*permanent residents detained by the Taliban. The resolution criticized*
*these arrests as “wrongful detentions.”*

Well would imagine that!
Any American traveling there, or to the DPRK should get some warning in advance that says “If you go there, and something happens, you are on your own.”
I assume they actually *do* get that, but if not, they should.
If you are a westerner going to hostile places as far as im concerned you are on your own. Why should your homecountry have to give something like a prisoner or some favourable agreement for your lack of insight.
They went there to explore the culture. That’s exactly what they achieved.

Taliban took over in 2021. I bet Glezmann’s mental health wasn’t at high point to begin with, given he decided to travel to Afghanistan after that.
>The second US citizen has been identified as Ryan Corbett, who was taken into custody in August 2022
Not much info about him here, but seems like he also had a bright idea to enjoy the country ruled by terrorists.
All those thousands of Taliban prisoners Trump released ought to be good enough to earn the release of a few of ours.
Geesh this is a “play stupid games” scenario. I was out of college starting a career in the early 90s when they little by little started eroding women’s rights until that final “ok evybody! You ladies go home!” Doctors, teachers, scientists, government workers…all home, can’t leave without a male escort and oh, don’t forget to cover up head to toe in your burqua so no one gets tempted! 2024 and here we are again. No one should go there, give any attention, instagram photos, social media or MONEY to them at all. No pity for these idiots.
It’s not one of “influencers” that are constantly streaming about how Afghanistan is the best place to travel to? If so they can keep them
Americans have been illegally killing Taliban for long time. I’m sure they’ll be treat well.
Well, did they learn anything?
I’m excited for my tax dollars to now be spent on partisan political bickering over this and eventually our military being used to extract these two people who should be left there.
I believe people should have the freedom to go where they please and explore any country they want. But that freedom comes with responsibility. You can’t go to a country that openly hates America and be upset when your arrested and used as a political pawn.
How dumb are people? Answer: very
Who in their right mind would even go to Afghanistan especially after the Taliban takeover
Sounds to me like they need some more freedom.
Oh great, more of my tax dollars about to be spent freeing someone who was stupid enough to go to some hostile country. Yay.
Despite those attention seeking travel influencers… think and don’t go to a country ran by the Taliban.
Well, time to deliver some freedom I guess.
Dumb. Oh well
I have zero sympathy for people who go to countries where they absolutely hate us & get detained & we have to trade prisoners for them.
