2. Russia never really cared for their soldiers, so this is nothing new. That estimate is ridiculous though, I wonder how long they can keep doing this.

   For nearly two decades of my adult life I was making an effort not to let stereotypes distort my view of people and then the Russians went ahead and proved the most juvenile, fanciful and offensive assumptions about the way their national characteristics will affect their war effort to be understated by a factor of 3. My epistemic toolkit is in shambles.
