  1. Damn they had me for a second that looks real as fuck . 😅

    little tasty too 👀

  2. Just keep calm and carry on, if someone wants to roast a fake dog then let them go right ahead.

  3. Oh no.

Anyways, I wonder what deals dominoes has on at the minute…

  4. It’s not like we spent tens of thousands of years co-evolving with each other, to the point dogs are a part of life for all cultures around the world throughout history…

  5. If it was a real dog roast there would be any fur on its face. If you are gonna do this at least do it right.

  6. If their intention was to “challenge the perception that it is OK to eat some animals but not others” then this stunt seems to have failed dismally.

Everyone who saw this at Henley presumably had their eating preferences reinforced. Dog – not OK. Pig – bacon.

  7. ‘challenge the perception that it’s socially acceptable to eat some animals but not others’

It isn’t really a perception, it is just a cultural norm. The animals we eat were selectively bred for traits that appeal to the human appetite. Dogs were not, but in some places in the world it is acceptable to eat dog. I bet it wouldn’t be hard to find a market for dog meat here if it was cheap and tasted nice.

  8. Tbh I’d have unironically been up for trying a dog roast.

Joke’s on these guys – I don’t like dogs any better than I like pigs.

  9. Eating dog isn’t illegal on the UK, you just can’t get the meat.

I’ve eaten dog once in china on holiday. It’s something the Chinese eat with respect to the animal unlike anything else they/we eat today.

It’s bizarre, my uncle also bought a crap load of horse meat from Ireland in his work van once, I must admit not much difference at all from horse and cow.

  10. There are 2 youtubers in that clip – Josh and Archie.

  11. The problem with eating meat is that animals suffer tremendously for you to do so. It’s not about killing animals, it’s about the wanton torture of animals so you can eat lots of meat cheaply.

At this point though you don’t care, you like the taste and that’s all that matters. It’s no different to the myriad bad things people do in their day to day lives. Personal satisfaction drives almost all behaviour and it’s damn near impossible to wedge anything in there to make them change.

  12. I’ve been vegan for 10+ years, but this is just counter productive. You don’t win people over by lecturing them. It’s why people hate vegans, trying to force your views on others never works.

  13. To be fair, where I draw the line depends on circumstances.
In dire enough straits, some of my family could start looking tasty

  14. Cat, dog, hamster – throw that bloody thing on the barbecue and grease it up. No different to any other animal we eat.

  15. I recall a youtube video that did a protest well. It showed a Swiss fine dining restaurant that illustrated their fancy dining. The main meat on the menu was cats. It was so good that people thought it was real lol.

  16. For the avoidance of any doubt, the ‘dog’ was made of silicone.

I’m very doubtful that this stunt was as useful as they think it was, but just wanted to make it clear that they didn’t actually turn up with a trussed and roasted lurcher.

  17. Everybody, the Youtube pranksters Josh (insulated jacket near the Range Rover) and Archie (Gymshark hoodie) feature in the video. Looks like this was their idea.

  18. Wrong event to do this at. Full of massive rowers who fly through all the chicken and beef at the supermarkets, farmers who make a living off it, and people who love a good hog roast. Bloody love regatta

  19. I don’t eat dogs because it doesn’t sound appetising, not because I care about dogs

  20. Viva has succeeded in convincing me it’s ethically acceptable to eat both dogs and animals more commonly used for meat 😅 (though eating dogs is probably less healthy deu to them sitting at a higher trophic level than non-carnivores).

  21. I don’t know why anyone would target rich people with this message. Let’s be honest, they care only about themselves and would only care about animals if it affected their living standards.

  22. Im waiting for the protest where the protestors roast themselves to make their point.
