  12. Masha Gessen is an excellent writer and an expert on Russia. I read their book *The Future Is History: How Totalitarianism Reclaimed Russia*, which is about a group of young Russians born just in time to witness the fall of the Soviet Union, and how their lives were impacted by the events of the 1990s and 2000s. It’s a great and emotional read. Highly recommend.

  13. US journalist? What? Masha is a Russian born person who has written extensively about Russians fall back into totalitarianism. They’re also a major lgbtq activist.

  21. They also had an award speech cancelled because of criticism of the treatment of Gazans.  Can’t even speak the truth in the US if the wrong people are offended.
