  12. I think he’s been asking for protective detail for the last year at least and was more or less told to pound sand. It’s a credible concern to have coming from a man whose dad and uncle were assassinated. This is less about Biden is good or noble but more about covering ones behind and making it look good.

  31. Listen, I’m as opposed as anyone to RFK being legitimized in any way, but this election already feels much more 1960s than it should, getting another Kennedy assassinated probably wouldn’t be a good look.

    On a less sarcastic side, this is a pretty noble and presidential act. I think I’ll vote for someone who has this level of respect, even for the vulgar opponents he’s forced to deal with.

  34. There is a lot of false information in this thread.

    RFK has protection currently- private protection which is very expensive (about 35 cents for every dollar contributed to his campaign). The cost is even more for high profile events, rallies, etc. The Biden camp knows this and it has been exploited politically over the past year +. Keep in mind RFK Jr has been running a campaign for awhile now and has made many requests- including when polls showed him well over 20%.

    Last week, the RFK campaign made another request and cited an FOIA request in which the Dept of Homeland Security detailed several credible threats. In previous reports, it was suggested internal documents confirmed RFK Jr was at an elevated level of concern, yet he was still denied repeatedly.

    If anyone doesn’t believe RFK Jr is at a heightened risk, then I think they don’t understand recent US History. RFK Sr’s assassination is the literal reason secret service protection is offered to candidates. Additionally, Biden has a bust of RFK in his Oval Office.

    My own opinion is Biden likely ordered the protection for personal (and political) reasons. While many of the Kennedy family does support RFK Jr’s run (contrary to what you have all been told by the mainstream media), many don’t- some of whom are involved with the Biden Administration. During a family visit to offer the Biden endorsement, some family members personally asked Biden to provide RFK Jr with SS protection. I presume after the Trump assassination attempt this weekend, Biden made the call.

    Biden being an astute Civil Servant extending the Secret Service for RFK Jr, would have JFK and RFK not to mention the entire Kennedy clan standing up and applauding while they endorse Biden for President over Bobby’s lost son.
