Several people are feared to have been injured after a car drove through a park popular with families enjoying picnics.

Emergency services rushed to Hazelbank Park in Co Antrim, Northern Ireland, where people were enjoying the weather. Screams were reported as a red car mounted a grass verge and drove through the park area.

A family member of someone who was at the park when the incident took place told BelfastLive: "My son-in-law was on the beach when he heard screaming and the saw the car going down the bank. Soon after the police and ambulance arrived.

"The vehicle had been in the car park and seemed to drive over the grass verge and then on to the bank. Such a lot of families there today in the good weather it could have been awful. I think there were a couple of people with minor injuries."

It is unknown how many people were injured in the incident. The Police Service of Northern Ireland has been approached for comment by the Mirror.
