  1. Could not believe it, but got the same result… 😂😂😂

  2. In my experience the public transport view of google map is often somewhat missleading. But there is a direct ÖBB train, taking around 20 minutes or so (And also the CAT which apparently is a tourist trap I have heard – but cannot confirm nor deny)

  3. Google Maps somehow disregards all sbahn trains… There are direct trains going from Wien Mitte (S7) or a railjet from Wien Hbf directly. fahrplan.oebb.at/webapp should show the correct connections

  4. Just use Apple Maps, Google Maps gets worse with every update.

  5. There are Railjet departures from Wien Hbf (Vienna Main Station) to Flughafen Wien (Vienna Airport) every half hour or so (around :10 and :40). Travel time is about 15 minutes, ticket is around 5 Euro.

  6. Sometimes I have the feeling, Google Maps is the only “skill” people use while travelling… one search on Google and you get all the results, but reddit is the answer? Come on!

  7. take a look on oebb.at, enter your details there and choose one of the trains with suffix “RJX”

  8. do you have to go to Bratislava Airport? Because that’s what it shows you and the result doesn’t surprise me tbh

  9. i mean, the airport is literally in a different country, what do you expect?

if you wanna go to vienna airport, there are direct trains that take like half an hour?

  10. You can also try wegfinder for options that include westbahn and s-bahn options. You might see different results if you look for earlier or later departure times… with CAT running so frequently it often gets pushed to the top.

  11. CARE AND PSA: Your Wiener Linien Ticket is NOT VALID when you take the S-Bahn from Hauptbahnhof to the Airport as you will leave Vienna to travel to the Viennese Airport that is not ACTUALLY LOCATED IN VIENNA.

so buy a ticket and don’t get deducted 200 euros off your holiday budget on your way to the airport (apx. 100€ per person fine).

    fucking bonkers

  12. yes

There is a train station inside the airport terminal where you can take multiple different lines to the main station in Vienna.

There are bus routes in the bus terminal (ground floor) that go towards the area of southern vienna, there you can switch to other busses, trains or the southern most ubahn(metro) lines.

Taxis are always an option but way too expensive for the drive.

And last but not least you could rent a car and drive yourself.

So tbh Google Maps is telling you some weird shit, it’s clearly incorrect, talk to someone from the airport staff directly if you need help they actually know thw area.

  13. Use VOR AnachB App, which not only shows you routes for the ÖBB, but also other transport providers in the VOR region (Lower Austria, Vienna and Burgenland)
