They have a grace period to find another job in the same category with an employer that **can** sponsor visa’s though, so it’s not like they are immediately deported.
Also:
>Muhammad moved to the UK with his four children after paying a recruitment agent £19,000
He bought the visa, he’s working as a minimum wage care worker, he has 4 kids (£7k/year school cost).
Muhammad is not exactly what people expect when they hear about an immigrant – yes, we do need care workers, but Muhammad is *costing* the UK tax payer ~£30,000/year just for his kids to go to school. (I pay ~£30k/year in tax, on an >£100k salary, it’ll take probably 10+ years of my entire tax & NI take to cover the schooling costs for his kids to age 18, he’ll not contribute that much in his remaining 22 years of work).
We don’t need a single care worker that much.
*Edit:*
*It gets worse:*
>He begged the boss of Renaissance Personnel, Dennis Mawadzi, for an admin job and began working in the company’s Brighton office
He’s not even working in the occupation his visa is for.
Renaissance is a sham company, applying for sham visa’s, and its owner, Dennis Mawadzi needs to be in jail.
Even with that, we have no duty of care to the hundreds of people Renaissance sold visa’s to, and if those people can’t get a new, sponsored, job in the area of their initial visa grant, they **should** be deported back home.
Visa for wife and 4 children for a care assistant. Do you want Reform as your government? This is how you get Reform as your government.
For clarity, the rules on dependents were radically changed in March of this year. Care workers can no longer bring family over easily. There were something like 300,000 dependents coming over last year.
Why the hell are we allowing foreign families of four children into the country on a single care worker wage… in London? They’ll need taxpayer support, I swear we’re trying to cause our own bankruptcy.
Edit: can anyone explain the logic behind handing Visa’s out en masse like this? I can’t think of a single benefit to us apart from maybe bringing a different culture outlook. I’m at a loss here…
But everyone keeps telling me that skilled worker visas have minimum requirements and that they’re not being abused! There are hundreds of these phony care homes in the country just dishing out visas to people illegitimately; we’re so spineless that, even when this is clamped down upon, we won’t deport any of the people who came over in these shams. A truly tragic state of affairs.
It’s not really true that they face being in the UK illegally. They face the possibility of not being able to stay legally if they don’t find a job in the same field during the grace period, yes. But that isn’t facing being here illegally; that’s facing having to go home. It’s like when fox hunting was banned. Fox hunters didn’t “face being criminalised” as the headlines claimed; they faced having to stop hunting foxes. That’s how the law works. When something you’re doing legally stops being legal for any reason, you face having to stop doing it.
All of this because we don’t pay care staff reasonably.
When I was at uni I stopped doing care work since I found out I could rock up to bar work for £2 an hour more.
Is this supposed to be a sob story? If you abuse the system or use a mock system for visas then go back home. We have to be tough on this
This country is speed running into serious issues with over population. Story mentions Brighton, the population of Brighton arrived here last year alone.
Paid a dodgy company for a dodgy visa to get to the UK. Company that was being paid to give people a path to settlement.
They won’t be in the UK illegally if they go home before their curtailment period ends. They shouldn’t have been here in the first place.
It’s not the people stripped of their visas that are dodgy, during covid all kinds of agencies were given the right to apply for a sponsorship license and recruit overseas candidates mainly for care work I believe.
However the agencies do not comply to the terms of the visas, e.g. if the worker needs 40 hours per week minimum to meet the terms of the visa and the agency doesn’t provide those 40 hours per week then the company are in breach of their sponsorship license.
When this is discovered the company are stripped of their license which leaves overseas workers with 6 months to find an alternative company to sponsor their visa.
A lot of the time it’s not the workers fault, it’s these shitty unregulated agencies.
They’ll still be here. Just move to another agency.
So do we have a shortage of care workers or not? If the former then why is a private, profit driven agency not able to find work for them?
Is labour still planning a national care agency or did that die with Corbyn?
Zero sympathy here.
Local British carers are constantly having their hours given to them cut because it’s cheaper for all of these care agency’s are choosing to replace them with cheaper, sponsored migrants.
Yes we need some to help with the care work. But when they’re literally driving out British care workers then they’re not helping the system at all.
What a complete shit show. All people want are less people coming in so that there isn’t so much strain on resources, there isn’t any money guys wake up . Anything anyone does makes it worse and everyone is fighting over this.
Again, only comes as a surprise to the ill-informed and those with their heads still firmly stuck in the sand.
Maybe one day they’ll see and realise what’s happening, but sadly by then it’ll be way too late.
Well the Tories dropped the ball on immigration and we saw Reform decimate them and treble their vote share from 2019.
The buck now stops with Labour, they’ve scrapped Rwanda but now what? This can’t continue.
My fiance is going through this exact thing as well. Fortunately she has found another company that can sponsor her visa when shit hits the fan
There are so many sham care companies that the former government allowed to spring up completely unmonitored or regulated, and the poor sods paying the price are the migrant workers who often go into debt to afford the staggering fees that these criminal scum are charging them.
I’d class care work as nursery nurses, carers in OAP homes, those that work in agencies, even HCAs in hospitals.
All these people are payed far less than their titles, education and experience suggests. Basically minimum wage plus an extra 10p-50p an hour.
Yet they are absolutely indispensable, without them there would be no carers for the disabled, the elderly or children under school age.
Most people don’t want to or won’t work in these thankless positions. Long hours, personal care, being attacked and for what, a few pence over minimum wage.
Thats why so many positions are filled by foreign workers, they are essential to our lives and economy but they are so underpaid nobody in the UK wants the job.
Instead of blaming foreigners seeking a better life, why aren’t the companies paying them a real living wage, and why is the government subsidising companies that pay their worjers low pay by topping up their wages in tax credits.
We continually blame the lowest in society when those in positions of power put profits over everything. How many companies post good profits yet pay their workers pittance.
Work should pay. It’s about time a fair share of profits went to the workers.
