French elections: Political horse trading goes on as left seeks candidate for PM • FRANCE 24
some of them are no strangers to the National Assembly others are picking up their badges for the first time but as MPS get settled in Parliament horse trading is intensifying behind the scenes especially among the left-wing Alliance Under Pressure to put forward a candidate for prime minister we have a country that is fractured we have a country that needs to be calmed we need someone who embodies this and who is capable of calming things down bringing people together the new popular front which won the most seats in Sunday’s vote wants president Emanuel macron to approve a candidate from its ranks even though it fell more than a 100 seats short of the threshold to form a majority one name that’s often come up is that of Jean Luke melon the founder of the hard-left France unbow party but the divisive figure has even alienated many fellow leftists other possibilities include Green’s party leader Marin tondelier but for her deciding the future Prime Minister’s leadership program is a much higher priority for me the question of who is secondary and it would be irresponsible to make it the highest priority that would get in the way of everything that’s not what the French people expect of us meanwhile macron’s Camp is hoping to form a coalition but a number of its MPS only want a grouping that excludes France unbowed Mena and Socialist Party leader Olivier far say any Coalition Partners would need to respect the new popular fronts program
France’s political parties sought to project strength and gather allies on Tuesday, with the government adrift following a Sunday parliamentary election in which no one force claimed a clear majority. The New Popular Front leftist alliance, which won the most seats, is under growing pressure to put forward a candidate for prime minister.

extreem left to radicalized left. 😢
Prime Minister is a poisoned chalice. Jordan Bardella dodged a bullet.
Whoever is prime minister has to institute a budget in September that pleases his/her masters in Brussels.
And you wonder why the French are often called "surrender monkeys"? It goes way before Dien Binh Phu.
