That’s ridiculously amazing
Don’t tell Texas and the Middle East among others that the days of fossil fuels are numbered.
Funny that the Middle East nations are transitioning money to adjust for the changes and the GOP is trying to cling to the past.
Meanwhile in Alberta I get to hear how there’s no point putting effort into fighting climate change, because of China’s sky high level of emissions. *sigh*
That sounds too good to be true. Give them two years and they have the equivalent of around 100 large nuclear power plants? A single nuclear power plant takes more than two years to build.
I wonder what other costs there are to this.
I was recently in the Yangtze River delta region going around for work.
Saw lots of solar all over the place… including covering the entire enormous roof of a coal fired power plant.
The west : we have no industry any more China took it all! Also the west : Lets invest zero into critical infrastructure I’m sure the free market will fix everything
Someone who has a brain and doesn’t use nuclear
[capacity](https://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/capacity)
another ccp pr piece
Just because they build them doesn’t mean they’re practical or functional. It’s just a bunch of number chasing for China. And it may sound clean, but these are often huilt on deforested land. Deforested for this exact purpose.
Actually that’s just their plan B.
Those solar panels and wind turbines were meant to flood Western markets and destroy any of the remaining competitors with the help of subsidies and get fresh foreign currency into the country.
Since the geopolitical situation is how it is, their plan never worked out.
I mean I’m all for building more green energy, but I don’t think that is a sustainable development. More like using existing overcapacities, but they can’t build those things way below production prices forever.
Even the Chinese CEOs are already complaining, that there are zero profits to be made in the whole supply chain. From resource extraction until manufacturing solar panels and turbines, it’s all a deficit business. The only thing keeping things running are huge subsidies in a country that already amassed a debt of more than 50 trillion (!) dollars… And that’s just the official figure.
Its almost like Chinese are smart.
Who wouldve guessed
does anyone think those solar panels aren’t tofu dreg?
Yes but thanks to corruption, they will be tofu dregs and probably won’t work 10 years.
*We require additional pylons*
That is practically the only good news coming out of China these days. It is true that their motivation is more to do with military goals than the environment, but it is still good news as China is a major polluter.
Oh…is that why they keep building 2 coal powerplants every 2 weeks?
It’s incredibly resilient infrastructure. Hard to destroy all at once. The west should take note.
ITT: People clueless and unaware that China has been bullshitting their green energy numbers for decades by now.
Almost crazy how these huge power stations are popping up soooo fast yet none of them are spotted through satellite imaging, and *only seem to exist* on “reported numbers”.
Yeah, don’t trust that stuff. Their building are barely holding together. Their rockets filled with water. I don’t see how their solar panels and wind stations are any different.
Oh sweet corruption!
It took China 3 years to build the tengarr solar farm that produces 1.5GW of electricity and this article/report is now claiming China is adding 10GW of solar/wind energy **every two weeks**
Come on now, there’s exaggeration and then there is absurd lies; this is the latter
Meanwhile, we’re busy fighting ourselves, and in 10 years our politicians will STILL make excuses that they “couldn’t have prepared for such high energy demands of all the AC in this heat” (after people die due to an outage)
Great. No let’s hope they stop painting dead forests with green paint. Or let’s hope they stop wildlife abuse practices. Or illegal fishing. Or the active genocide against Uighur people. Chinas atrocities list is a mile long.
Meanwhile it takes the west 10 years to maybe build one outrageously expensive nuclear powerplant and Reddit still thinks it’s the future 🙁
