  3. Wish they didn’t sell Rafa Marin until the deal was close so that there was Plan B.

    I don’t think RM will try to sign him again in the future when his value appreciates since they didn’t go for him when his value is much lower.

  8. We need to get a CB. We can’t go into the season with just Militao and Rudiger as the healthy CBs. I would have loved Yoro here more as he seems to be better currently but if not Yoro, have to go for Calafiori. Or maybe De ligt. I loved to seen him here during his ajax days but he hasn’t exactly gone according to plans after that (not bad but not exceptional either). But he is still a good defender and leader in the pitch.

    I won’t trust this until it’s official but Ornstein is a pretty good source. So there are high chances it’s done unless we increase our bids.

  9. Couldnt care less. I am happy we are not letting clubs take advantage and squeeze us like this even if we have the money. It sets presedence for the future. 62mil for a 18 year old CB with a yearon his contract is insane.

    He decided to waste away his potential at the talent blackhole that is United and go after short term money, good for him.

    There are plenty od fish in the sea and people will be thanking god we didnt sign him and actualy signed whoever we wnd up with in a few years. Not because he is not a great talent, but because he will invitably fail at united and whoever comes here will succeed even with less talent. Mentality and environment means too much.

  11. We have only 3 CBs for this season. Yoro would have given us more confidence in the defence line as the season will be very long (7 diff. Competitions). We should have waited on Rafa Marin’s deal as he would have been a good backup option for us if Yoro’s deal didn’t work. But we seriously need a CB this season. It’s a calculated risk from our side letting go of that player.
    De ligt would be a good option.

  14. Not getting a player that doesn’t absolutely want to play for Real Madrid isn’t that big of a deal. Fighting for a team you’re obsessed with *and* being good is what takes Real Madrid to the next level.

  15. The transfer window is long, I’m not worried at all.

    Plus I can see where the club is coming from. The price tag was rumored to be 35-40 mil for the last 6 months and now United have bid 62 mil. Matching their bid would be a massive over pay, especially for a player who is only 18.

    Looking at how Militao did at the end of the season and the first couple games for Brazil (he was pretty good in the last two Brazil Copa America games), I can see if the club is going for someone more experienced and entering the prime of their career. Someone like Bastoni.
