The proper way we would handle this is getting a note from a doctor.
Also, send an email you are sick, then do not pick up the phone.
You cant get a fine. You can mail your boss you are taking vacation days from x to y, because he had agreed to it previously, that you paid a non refundable deposit and there’s nothing you can do about it. He can fire you, but there’s no fine.
