  1. Ya know I watched quite a few Leny Yoro highlight vids over the past few months. What a waste

  2. I’m going to have a very reasonable take here.

Blow it up, sell everyone. Real Madrid is done because we didn’t get the backup center back we wanted. Start the rebuild now. /s

Swear that’s how some of you are reacting because Manchester United wanted to overpay for an 18 year old with one season to his belt with one year in his contract.

  3. Not gonna lie, this sucks. We clearly sold Rafa Marin to Napoli with the intention of getting Yoro.

Let this be a good lesson that you can’t just inflate your ego and expect every player to come your way. A €20m bid is just insulting

  4. It’s sad that we can’t get him. Was a genuine talent.

We surely have to get someone before going to a potential 71 games season.

  5. I know De Ligt is injury prone but his ceiling is so high id like to see him here instead. In any case we need a solid cb

  6. Honestly, kinda sucks but this is best for everyone involved IMO. We don’t want to splurge 60M+ on a player with one year left on his contract, that sets a precedent with huge potential consequences. United just got new owners and a gaping hole in the backline, this move will strengthen them both on and off the pitch. Yoro is going to a club where he will be an immediate starter, on higher wages, and clearly values him more in this transfer saga. Lille obviously got 30M more than they would otherwise get from us. Obviously we all wished that Yoro would join us, but I’d much rather this than us paying 50M for an 18-year-old with one year left on his contract.

  7. Picking Man U, not even city, over playing with Mbappe, Tchou, Cama, not to mention world beaters like vini and Jude and likely winning UCLs is certainly a decision.

I hope our plan is to go for Calafiori, or at least de Ligt or Teh. I know paying some €50M+ for an unproven 18 year old CB from ligue 1 is a bit crazy, but we really need CB reinforcements. That amount, and even more, for established CBs is worth it.

  8. I hope papa Perez goes for someone else but I don’t even know who’s available?

  9. Gotta respect the decision, we will find someone else. Too bad though

  10. It’s perfectly fine to not sign him for ridiculous money provided we kept Nacho or retained Rafa Marin. If you wanted cheap, known, and established talent. That was it right there. Instead Nacho walked (probably couldn’t change his mind) and we sold Marin.

It’s a bit of having your cake and eating it to.

Obviously this money is egregious and not worth the price, but it doesn’t quite add up why you’d ship the only option you really had to a different team. Now we have to hope that 2 ACL injured players, Vallejo (who we all know isn’t Madrid quality, he’s literally a meme on this page), and Rudiger stay healthy.

And if they don’t, then the midfield, our biggest strength last year, will inevitably suffer.

So fine, Yoro doesn’t sign, now how do we address the backline?

People’s ideas for the backline in this sub are about as stable as Alaba’s ACL right now. As in, don’t count on it to workout. lol

  11. 70 mil for this guy with an expiring contract is a massive overpay. There’s an upper limit even for yoro, he needs to show more on the ball with a year left on the deal especially when he’s not guaranteed to hit William saliba levels just yet.

  12. I’mma be honest I haven’t watched yoro play at all and I’m not going to pretend like I did and debate whether he is worth it or not but what I do is the players need Madrid and not the other way around and yes we have saved up money on him and hopefully we utilise it to get a good defender

  13. It’s fine Ancelotti has managed to win us a CL without a striker and playing midfielders as defenders before, losing nacho and kroos are huge blows though. But i fully believe in Carletto and Papa perez.

  14. Shame but I’m not going to lose sleep over it at that price point. I do hope the club has a plan they pivot to though

  15. i just can laugh with MU fans saying they bodied madrid because they got yoro![img](emote|t5_2rr0e|15800)

  16. Calafiori is still available. Deserves the overpay if needed.

  17. We will win by outscoring our opponents.

However being very serious Yoro wasn’t coming here to become a starter. So far we need to trust Milo and Rudiger as our starters with Vallejo and Alaba backing them up. In Carlo and Flo I trust.

  18. Disappointed by the kid. But at the end of the day, we won’t really care anymore

  19. I’m pretty confident he has some sort of clause allowing him to join Madrid for X amount of money in ~2 years. Not blaming him for moving there, but Perez made the right decision, he was too expensive now.

  20. We were partially wrong because Lille was Yoro s childhood club and we should should have respected that and atleast we should have bid 30+8 add on so he might have rejected man utd

  21. Tchou is crying and screaming reading this, another year at CB

  22. The interesting thing about the Yoro deal is that Real Madrid didn’t want to pay more than €30m, PSG not more than €45m for an 18-year-old who is free in a year but United paid €63m. He is an incredible talent and only the future will tell which strategy was the right one

  23. It’s not a big deal with all due respect.

We play with structure in midfield nowadays and Camavinga, Tchouameni, Valverde can defend so defenders don’t have to do much and thus our CB don’t have to be Ramos level.

Any top level CB can do the job and there is no dearth of top CB in the world.

Most we have ever paid for a CB was 50 and that was not when Militao was on 1 year contract.

We would have never paid more than 30-40 for Yoro.

It’s not a big deal, let’s get Calafiori or another CB instead.
