Greek singer Despina Vandi didn’t go on stage because there was a picture of Atatürk on the stage. People went on stage and sang the Izmir Anthem

  1. Greek German*
Further reinforcing my belief that diaspora people are retards.

  2. Let’s fix the title. Greek-German singer Despina Vandi requested the Turkish flag and Ataturk poster on the stage to be taken down, organizers refused the request. So Despine refused to go on stage.

First of all, this concert was a part of an event organized by the TEV (Turkish Education Foundation) so as you can interpret from the name, there will be a Turkish flag on the stage. Couldn’t she think there would be a Turkish flag in Turkish Education Foundation Event? Why did she accept the concert offer at the first place?

Greek people are my favorite since we share the same culture and everything and this obviously did not change my view on anyone, but she is just a provocator. I’d totally understand a Greek person not wanting to take stage where there is Ataturk poster and Turkish flag, but why did she accept it just to refuse it later?

  3. She did not want to perform in an event that was politicized without her knowing. Videos and pics of her performing with Kemal in the background would cause a huge outrage in Greece. But I find it weird that she wanted the Turkish flag to be removed too, didn’t she willingly want to perform in a Turkish event?

  4. so no more low-quality shitty music for turks. i’m okay with it.

  5. Good for her. I support her. Mustafa Kemal is a controversial figure and the obsession Turks have with him, even if he is “Father of the Turks” is weird. No one in Europe does this.
