For this concerted and organised effort is needed in drone electronics and EW resistance, power systems that can increase performance and aerodynamics research with distributed electric propulsion, coupled with deployable weapon systems adapted to drone payload and allows drones to operate at a safe standoff distance. Drones must be developed for the interceptor role and be produced in large quantity for this to work to neutralise the main aerial threat. Drones have the potential with future technologies to be more effective and cheaper than artillery and operate over similar ranges. The same technologies i.e. adapted object recognition with map reading, satellite and synthetically trained data along with inertia guidance available in the free market together with last rational GPS signal can allow faster jet powered missiles, which may be ramp launched like V1’s carrying 50 to 500kg payload are possible for Ukraine to develop to hit any valid target inside Russia to hit any target to 1 meter or less accuracy. Maybe even 1 ton pay loads which may deploy multiple smaller payload are possible. For the drones the requirement is the same as in WW2 – weapon systems for aerial use, more advanced power sources, and a supply of smart pilots which in this case comes down mainly to computers and autonomous systems. The area Ukraine has parity with Russia is drones. It will take more time to reach this in artillery.
