A Russian officer revealed the truth about the losses in the army. In his brigade, there are actually twice as many dead as officially reported.

The amount of people they are losing is crazy. I would not be surprised if it was actually a lot more than Ukraine is reporting.
To put this in perspective there are usually 3000 to 5000 troops in a brigade – so they have lost their original strength several times over.

And this is one brigade in a single division, russia has 40 divisions in Ukraine and each division has something like 3-5 brigades. Now if the losses of all the brigades are similiar it would mean that each brigade has lost around a division worth of people. Suddenly the Ukrainian estimates look quite realistic. That would be around 400,000 to 500,000 deaths depending. The deaths would look like 12,000 * 40. Just on the rough numbers.

The Wikipedia article on the telnyashka – striped undershirt worn by some Russian military units – says that the black and white variation is the field version worn by Russian marines, commando frogmen and submariners. Difficult to imagine there’s ever been a whole brigade-worth of commadoes, and taking submariners off their boats and sending them to fight with the army would be a desperation measure. So I guess this guy is a lieutenant in the Russian Marines.
Or at least he **was** a lieutenant before this dose of the truth started making the rounds of western social media.
I’m pretty sure I recall hearing that the Russian Marines – like the VDV – have been absolutely slaughtered during the war, mainly because their (former) reputation as elite units meant the commanders preferred to throw them into battle rather than relying on poorly equipped and barely trained noobs.
A huge tragedy. Sick Russian society. Dying for nothing.
