  1. I am happy with her promise to continue with the Green New Deal. Also very interested in the new EU housing plans which the S&D’s lobbied for. I very much hope they can succeed in this problem which we are facing across the EU. Not the biggest fan of von der Leyen herself but carefully optimistic about her plans

  2. So I guess macron basically gets to keep the ecb under his control with this deal.

  3. The EU commision ain’t beating the corrupt and Brussels bureaucrats allegations with a president like that.

  4. She basically is seemingly hated by everyone who I follow from left to right lol

Which makes me think she’s a good pick because it’s impossible to unite all of Europe’s disparate factions.

  5. Where is the Meloni disgust meme when you need it 🙁

  6. The puppet of the Council stays in power.

    But Borrell should gtfo

  7. I have the feeling that the European Parlament is like the Wall from Game of Thrones, where countries send all their undesirable politicians. I still remember Von der Leyen as minister of defence in Germany, she was so bad at her job that everyone wanted her out.

  8. for fucks sake, can this cunt do anything but fail upwards?

  9. She got reelected thanks to the Greens and without Meloni supporting her.

Let’s see if the Parliament will find the balls to hold her accountable now that she is indebted to it’s more liberal and progressive side.

  10. It’s a shame the vote is secret. I guess we will have to wait and see who the commissioners are to know whether it was Greens or ECR that supported her more and will have more power

  11. We should vote for new Commission president the same way we vote in Eurosong

  12. What is up with all the von der Leyen hate. Her Commission has been effective in certain areas. Other areas a little bit less. I am not ideologically aligned with the EPP. But what’s with all the extremism? If von der Leyen did not achieve a majority the EU would face difficult institutional challenges for the coming months.

I am happy that a pro-EU, pro-Ukraine grand coalition of the social democrats, liberals and christian democrats secured a majority with a stable leader. Why aren’t you?

  13. bye bye digital freedoms, welcome surveillance state

  14. Was there a roll call vote? If so would anyone be able to share the document.

  15. You get corruption, you get corruption, EVERYONE gets corruptiooooon!!!!

  16. A reminder that the European Union is not a democratic institution.

If it was, the citizens of the European Union would get to vote.

  17. “In the course of my life I have developed five little democratic questions. If one meets a powerful person–Adolf Hitler, Joe Stalin or Bill Gates–ask them five questions: “What power have you got? Where did you get it from? In whose interests do you exercise it? To whom are you accountable? And how can we get rid of you?” If you cannot get rid of the people who govern you, you do not live in a democratic system.” Tony Benn

  18. Smashing Putinism and oligachs and plutcans around the world 🌎

  19. Oh great, years more Zensursula.

On the plus side, long term the EU Commission’s quixotic War on Mathematics is obviously doomed to failure. On the minus side it may take longer than my remaining lifespan as a mortal for the EU Commission to actually fail and stop attacking encryption etc. Buffoons.
