Cable thefts have ‘detrimental effect’ on phone, internet services

  1. I wonder what sort of ethnic culture would be associated with stealing cables

I wonder what we should do to accommodate that culture

  2. We should string some unmarked live power cables in tandem with the comm’s cable.

    Hard lessons get learned fast.

  3. Jesus id say so.

In much the same way stealing the rails would have a “detrimental effect” on the train service, or stealing the tarmac would have a “detrimental effect” on taxi services.

  4. A new house was built near me, and travellers broke in and ripped out all the cables and piping, hot water tank, the lot. They did €10,000 of damage for a couple of hundred euro of scrap metal.

  5. I really hope they don’t cut into any that carry electricity, it would be a shame if they were melted into little charred puddles.

  6. It’s the little people that come out at night that took it .

Beware of the little people , they have magic powers .

Or is the price of scrap copper gone up ?

  7. > While gardaí will not speculate on its value, it is believed a tonne of copper could yield thieves around €5,000.

Gardaí never speculate about values, they publish straight up blatant fucking lies all the time. Gardaí and accurate numbers don’t mix. Its probably not too far off in this case, but there probably should be a legal requirement to note they are Garda numbers that are usually fabricated.
