People who give character references for sexual offenders can now be cross-examined in court

  1. It’s messed up we even allow character references for sexual predators.

“Ah he’s a good lad really. Comes from a good family and unblemished work record. Never missed a day of school either. In the grand scheme of things he spends most of his time not raping people so I think that should be taken into account” – not a real quote.

  2. “He’s a man of great character, selfless to a fault, and always the first to every breakdown”

  3. Why does every photojournalist take a picture of that place and why does every editor feel the need to include it in every article about the courts.

  4. I dont care how nice a guy a rapist/murderer is, and neither should the courts. You should get tried on the crime you commit, not how fucking great a babysitter you used to be or how your local sport team needs you

  5. A good idea. I would get rid of references anyway. Mandatory sentences once found guilty..no leeway for a judge…it would also equalize sentencing…

  6. Well he’s never raped *me*, so of course I’ll give him a reference.
