Children awaiting spinal surgery may be treated abroad under new plans

  2. This is an out and out disgrace 

    Government fucking our money away every day and this is what our hard earned taxes get for our children 

  3. You can bet the administrators and accountants appointed by the HSE to oversee this won’t have their budgets cut or their numbers reduced.

  4. To be fair to the HSE they seem to be very complex procedures with a huge backlog. We might not have the calibre of surgeons in enough capacity and there’s a big backlog. At least they are trying to fix it for the families.

    As someone who’s had two surgeries abroad, this is the correct approach and should have been done sooner.

    Interesting that flights and accommodation will be explicitly covered for family members. I think it was more discretionary in the past
