5. I too wonder why people endorsing and calling for assassination attempts, in this case a presidential candidate and most likely the future president, get in trouble.

10. Tbh it is kind of a bad taste to wish for the death of an allied countries politicians. Whether you like Trump or not, some civility would not hurt.

Him losing his job is a bit of a pity, because he is one of the few politically correct leftist establishment “comedians” in the German speaking world who actually has a sense of humour – occasionally, at least. And he has a really good command of the subtleties of the German language. Which is the reason I as a conservative person follow him on social media: some of his stuff is over the top and offensive, but he fairly reliably does make me laugh (or at least snortle) as well with at least one of his – usually fairly black humour – posts. TL;DR: the dude is actually genuinely funny, quite frequently.

    He did go too far with that Trump comment, though. However, at least in my world, that would not be a reason to fire him: the court jester (which is basically his profession) should be allowed to get away with more than Joe Average. Doesn’t mean that the jester won’t occasionally get lashed for making inappropriate jokes about the King’s wife – but he would not be fired, just get a few lashes (and some gold as well, because people did laugh – the King’s wife is really fat, after all, and *does* resemble a hippo if you look at it the right way).

    Him getting fired is those stupid state run media people who he worked for having a stick up their rear end: if they had actual backbones, they would have protected him, and told the outrage crowd to take a hike. While at the same time making sure that he realises that making jokes about political assassination attempts being unsuccessful is going a joke too far.
