3. I hear that if he continues his denial beyond the weekend the pressure increases starting Monday. The party is not interested in losing for his ego.

4. No he’s not. We all know he’s dropping in the next few days. He should do it today to steal the news cycle from the RNC convention.

5. Hopefully that determination manifests in an honest look at polling data and a decision to help prop up a younger more viable candidate that can actually win.

6. This is just a campaign statement intended to show that our determination and enthusiasm is not waning.

7. If he really makes all the party leaders go public to call him to resign, that’s him basically saying if he can’t have it he’s gonna make it way harder for the next person.

15. So basically, I was watching Morning Joe, and Biden’s team is saying that him getting Covid is slowing the process down for him to decide. That he the Democrats backing into him in a corner won’t be effective for getting him out, and that he has to come to a decision on his own time. He also needs to talk with his family about it. Idk. It still feels like they’re trying to run out the clock, and he isn’t serious about dropping out.

21. I can’t imagine being a candidate who has never lost a general election, is the incumbent, and is running against a felon who lost the last election, being told I can’t win and need to drop out. Not for poor job performance, nor criminal behavior, nor a failed response to a emergency, but because the swing voters don’t want an old 81 year old, but a young spry 78 year old who already failed at the job. We’re in a weird timeline.

23. Gonna play devil’s advocate here (compared to the rest of the comments):

    Joe Biden is the nominee. Whether or not he steps down is exclusively up to him. If he’s not giving up, then he isn’t going to give up. His horrific debate performance is genuine cause for concern, and catching COVID has only exaggerated these concerns. These concerns needs to be addressed head on, which his campaign and staff have done a poor job of doing.

    With that said, if Biden is to step aside there needs to be a step 2. So far most of the Dems who have called for Biden to surrender has candidacy have not proposed a plan forward after that. If anything, the senior Dems seem to be wanting to surrender because they are afraid to actually fight. We keep getting negative vibes from leaks and reports, and it’s making these leaders come off as remarkably dishonest.

    I’ll vote for whomever gets the nomination because I’m voting for a vision of the country. But this is straight up political malpractice for them to eliminate the ticket altogether. Whatever damage Biden has done to his election with that debate performance, senior leadership has done exponentially worse with these kneejerk calls to drop out.

24. Is it true that Biden dropping out of the race creates an opening for Republicans to challenge later in court? I really hope the Dems know what they’re doing.

25. If he really think he can beat him and stays on the ticket.. he must attack him and press him and be relentless when and if they have another debate. He has to speak clearly and show he can lead. He and the dems have to be the one to condemn MAGA because the media sure isn’t doing it. Sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire. Maga is going to play dirty. At some point you have to do the same.

26. Its amazing watching both Biden and dems who want him to stay in and the dems who want him out drive into the exact same brick wall from different angles.

    The election is in three fucking months. This crisis is 4 years too late.
