The beach at Elie, Fife

  1. Pointless anecdote warning… when I was 3, my aunt and uncle must have rented or borrowed one of those houses with the gardens that open right onto the beach. It’s one of my earliest memories, the joy of having the beach at your garden. That, and getting sand in my yoghurt and eating it anyway, and regretting it.

  2. I wonder if there’s any special rules for those chaps playing cricket on the beach.
Down in England, there’s one of the pitches that had/has a big tree growing in it, and if the ball hits the tree it counts as a six.

Wonder if there’s rules for “Gull Steals Ball” or other such things.

  3. Having played cricket there, stayed there, drunk beer and ate food in the Ship. I can tell you that town is as close to heaven as it gets fabulous place. Like a number of towns along that coast

  4. Found a garnet the other day on the other beach (Ruby Bay). They’re tiny but you can usually find one or two if you sift through the sand.
