I find it kind of mad that the default assumption in sentencing is that you have 600 prior convictions and you get time cut off for that not being the case. I know it’s kind of semantics but a guy like this deserves the standard sentence, and you add on to that if they’re a serial repeat offender.

I beg to differ judge. If anyone had been hit or killed I think I can say with a fair degree of certainty that they wouldn’t have given a flying fuck whether the gun was licensed or not.

The lad tried to murder a guard. Life in prison is the only answer. Alcohol just brings who you really are to the surface, it’s not an excuse for any crime.
