Hi everyone,

I am a foreigner living in Slovakia. Today I went to Vienna airport and on the way back by mistake I ended up in paid highway between Vienna Airport and Bratislava (A4). I left the highway in first exit to Fischamend. Since I wasnt planning to use A4 I didnt have vignette, my question is will I get fined for this 9km trip that I had in highway?

Btw there was heavy traffic and that 9 km highway portion of the road ended up taking my 53 minutes. My car is registred in Slovakia and has Slovak plate number.

PS: I have shared this same post in r/Austria as well hoping to get some answer. Btw thanks in advance for the help

  1. AFAIK there are no automatic cameras on Austria’s side, so you should be fine. If the situation was reversed (not having Slovak vignette), you’d be fined, as there are cameras on Slovak side in both directions.

  2. [Automatic toll sticker monitoring](https://www.asfinag.at/en/toll/service-and-controls/)

In addition to the manual control, toll stickers are monitored using cameras. If for reasons of road safety the toll control staff cannot stop vehicles, automatic toll sticker monitoring (AVK) is used (for example on multi-lane urban motorways). Nine camera systems are currently in use. The locations of the mobile devices change every seven to 14 days.
