  1. Updated thread as another fire has broken out after the protests of more than 1,000 people.

    Very sustainable situation.

  2. I was about to say wasn’t this posted yesterday, but:

    > It follows a fire at the same site last night, which gardaí are treating as suspected arson.

  3. Justice minister and garda commissioner have to go.

3 fires in 3 days. One in limerick which turned out to be for student accommodation. What a joke this country is becoming.

  4. Like in all fairness, is anyone surprised by this? I fully believe more protests and even more fires are coming. It’s Coolock today (and yesterday) tomorrow it will be somewhere else

  5. It’s only a matter of time before someone is actually killed with this horse shit. McEntee and Harris need to go.

  6. Didn’t we have this exact conversation yesterday? I had a whole thing said about it. These scumbags bad etc.

Ffs lads. These folks are just acting the cunt at this stage for no fucking reason.

  7. “Peaceful protest” apparently. Funny how such a protest ends in the place on fire.

  8. Feel for the kids who have been dragged along by their feral parents.

  9. Let’s put this type of accommodation for 500 people in Dalkey – I wouldn’t put it past Pat Kenny to be out launching petrol bombs.

I’m all seriousness, the guards need to be able to deal with this, but the government aren’t properly engaging with local communities and they need to show there’s an equitable distribution across the country and within counties.

  10. It wouldn’t be a problem if they would just spread the migrants out.

You can’t dump 300 people with an alien culture into a town and expect it to go well. Put a few in D4.

I’m pro migrant but they need to be dispersed across all areas – rich and poor. As things stand they are just being stuffed into poor communities which is wrong.

Services in those areas are generally already under pressure due to the challenges of lower socioeconomic status. Adding these migrants to the mix creates concerns like, will I be able to get a doctor? Will there be too many kids in my son’s class? Etc.

  11. Old Irish stubborn refusal to yield meets inevitable push back from a younger new Irish that they didn’t expect, and through year of mishandling topic, justice and public service entities, were completely unready for.

The last thing they expected was a second wave from Coolock but alas,…the veiled false reassurance of competence has dropped.

I’m anti far right and delinquent anarchists for the sake of it, but the government need to go.

  12. What do they expect putting a refugee centre in one of the most deprived, under educated areas of Dublin?

  13. – Start Protest
    – Say its peaceful
    – Claim its due to legitimate corners and lack of resources (concern, while true have been an issue long before the refugee crisis and won’t be solved by kicking out all refugees)
    – Try setting the place on fire
    – Threaten workers, foreigners, guards and firemen
    – Attack guards
    – Get pepper sprayed and arrested
    – Claim you’re the victim

Rinse and repeat, same at every one of these protests.

  14. Handed a letter to the Garda complaining about “heavy handed tactics” then set a building on fire… wow

  15. Sadly effective, I can’t see the plans for the building standing up to this kind of sustained mobbing even if it doesn’t get completely torched.

  16. There’s a Garda station within walking distance of this place. I was driving by today and there are Guards everywhere , like I’ve never seen as many guards in one place.

How are there still fires being started?

  17. I don’t agree with violent protest but a peaceful protest is needed of this scale. The government have learned nothing from their neighbour England about what happens when you dump hundreds of immigrants with an alien religion, culture and language into these working class areas. Luton, Bradford, Rotherham, Oldham, Rochdale etc

It doesn’t work and causes a split community. These towns have Muslim areas and White areas. Ireland is following the exact blueprint for disaster now as no way are people being integrated or taught the language.

Ireland isn’t big enough to ignore the problem like England does and simply steer clear of these towns whilst laughing about it and calling these towns shit holes and making them the laughing stock.

If I was from Coolock I’d be worried too.

  18. There’s a good portion of that protest crowd, if they lived in a simulation where they get to antagonise the guards and bully the general public they would live the rest of their lives happy.

The combination of those far right protests, then the scrotes to do the dirty work for them is dangerous. Like realistically what can you do if someone wants to burn a place down, unless you just want to put a fire truck and enough guards there to protect the fire truck 24/7…

There really needs to be lads dragged out of their beds tomorrow and locked up for a while with serious charges if you’re caught doing these fires.

Such a mess overall though the entire situation, I’m amazed justice minister and garda commissioner survive scandal after scandal.

  19. Very concerning that they are essentially allowing the blueprint for future violent protest to be written by not been able to get it under control.

Even worse is very little being done to sort out the immigration mess, or at least been done in a way that people believe it.

So not only are they doing little to take the wind out of the sails but we are seeing live how this will go in the future.

  20. This might be the best outcome? Could you imagine actual migrants in such close proximity to an already enraged mob? With gards already overwhelmed as is?

  21. “Fire breaks out” “Peaceful Protesters” etc etc etc

  22. As someone who is out of the loop . I keep seeing people shouting wheres the woman children or older men in these videos. Or a video of many younger men waiting on a bus
Is it mostly young men seeking asylum and if so why is that. Or is that just made up and were only seeing the videos that make it look that;way?

  23. Good. If politicians don’t represent the majority view what do you expect.
