I saw this video of a guy riding a small moped on the bike pad and I was wondering if this is legal. If so, I find it super dangerous, specially riding so fast and recklessly.

  1. It is illegal unless there is an additional sign with a small moped which allows it

  2. Yes that’s legal under 2 conditions:

    – Outside of the city/town.

    – Vehicle cannot go faster than 25km/h

  3. the only motorcycles that are allowed to use bike paths are [Mofas](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mofa) but only under certain conditions.

guy in the video is recklessly breaking the law because he’s riding a small motorcycle that can go up to 60 km/h

  4. Some people do long distance moped rides, and since it’s unsafe to ride on the country road where people go 100kph, you can drive on the bike path.

I think technically it’s illegal over a certain power rating but as long as you ride normally the police completely understand that you don’t want to be ran off the road by a truck.

This guy is ripping on the Simson, he’s breaking a lot of laws. He’s still pretty cool though. Those are very collectible and expensive little East German bikes. They are still allowed to drive up to 60kph, which is a special exception in the law.
