For a while i thought i was just getting unlucky with plastic bottle lids. But now i realise there is more to this. Anyone else noticed this?

For once, this really seems to be because of a [EU directive](https://www.euronews.com/green/2024/07/02/why-are-bottle-caps-attached-to-the-bottle-inside-the-eu-directive-causing-drink-spills-ev). The idea is to avoid littering, as bottle caps are the most commonly found waste item on beaches.
I’ve only starting getting them this last month
[BBC NEWS #bottletop](https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGen5mnfB/)
Yeah it’s standard now. And they’re fine when you get used to it. Just give a little tug on it when first opening to free up where it connects, then it screws back on just fine even with it still being connected
I like them tbh, no more fumbling the cap while unscrewing it and having it roll off into the rift between dimensions that seems to exists for things that I drop on the floor.
Pita to drink out of, but might just be Coke/Fanta version of it.
Been on coke a while but only started noticing them on milk, can’t work out it it’s more or less annoying than fishing the plastic ring outta the tea.
Milk & juice cartons
The river rock ones are the worst haha, you can’t close them by pushing down and have to push from the side of the sports cap, learned the hard way when it went all over me
Yes and it’s a good thing
That’s what I was wondering the other day too! I kinda hate it.
Poking ye in the ficken face every mouthful…… Bastards.
The fruit shoot has them now too and my toddler absolutely refuses to drink from them now
I thought I was going mental. Thanks for bringing this up
It’s to prevent the lid from becoming detached from the bottle creating smaller rogue plastic waste issues.
Keeping all components together (the bottle, the base seal and the lid) creates fewer rogue smaller plastic waste issues.
First smoky bacon tayto, now this!
Revolution is the only option now.
The only ones that annoy me are on pure orange juice. The lids are small and harder to get back on, but that’s just a little gripe if it saves the litter.
They go to these levels and still use plastic for everything. Surely the solution is to find alternatives to plastic or at least something that bio degrades.
Because we’re not responsible enough.
Can’t have nice things!
I’ve noticed this on most bottles for weeks now
Yes is fucking is!!!!!!!!
Seen it in Europe 5-6 months ago, now it’s eventually come here to roost.
Not new, had these on coke bottles for at least a year in the UK
First noticed it on coke bottles but yeah it’s to reduce littering and promote recycling the cap
Yep and I hate it.
I’m disabled and I have problems with my dexterity. These make it even more difficult for me to open a screw top bottle.
Plus they always cut the bake off ya when you take a drink.

Yes, and its annoyin as fuck
I rip em’ the feck aff
The milk alternative cartons have this too. Has caused many a splash when making tay. Pain in the hoop but sure what odds
I honestly thought i was going mad. This happens with every bottle I’ve bought for the past few months or even longer. I’m not the only one 😂
I understand their purpose but they’re a pain in the hole sometimes lol
