Like just pick them up off the street and place them in a bin
Hakuna Matata.
Dublin is a hole
They must have been mistaken because people keep telling me there is no racism in Ireland.
Scumbags out scumming I guess.
Cue the father Ted quote
Crazy cats
I’ve followed this sub for a while as I’m married to an Irishman (I’m a brown british woman). I normally skip over the anti-British or the ‘Ireland is more tolerant’ posts simply because why I LOVE Ireland, and the majority of Irish people (in-laws etc) are amazing it would be a lie for me to like or comment on these because in honesty I’ve been in more uncomfortable situations regarding the colour of my skin when I’ve been in Ireland than I have when we are in the UK.
We talk about moving over often and I always make jokes about what will happen when it’s realised I’m not white *and* have an English accent, it’s said light hearted in the moment but it’s actually a real fear.
I’m prepared for the downvotes, but it’s my own personal truth when I’ve been over.
You have a beautiful country and friendly people in general but it is still an issue that doesn’t seem to be as in the light as it should be.

Imagine being the parents who dragged up the shit house rats that did this. Utter failures.

“group of male youths”
Not surprised. They feel like the city is theirs and little is being done about it.
Dublin needs some serious work.
I’m half Cavan but I was born in the rotunda hospital and I have lived my whole life in Dublin for 24 years.
Bicyles stolen, intimidated by scrotes and shouted at by homeless drug addicts. Also seeing them scream at tourists is unbelievably embarrassing. Lots of drug use openly on public transport.
I remember a friend from school (who now lives down the country) whos house was attacked by scrotes when he tried to stop one of them from stealing from a shop he worked in years ago.
A lot of Dublin people will defend the place but I just can’t.
Well I for one am shocked!
It will always be odd to me that a society that benefited as much from emigration as Ireland did can be so damn xenophobic. I know everyone just wants to blame young lads (who do run amok and there are societal reasons why Irish men and thus young men and boys are some of the most over-confident people I have met in my life resulting in them being toxic), but there are larger problems with xenophobia here.
It’s not just Dublin lads
fucking arseholes
The walk from the Grand Canal down Pearse st into town can have its moments. When I tour to the BGET with shows I try to delicately warn any colleagues who aren’t white that they might receive some abuse.

I can’t wait for people here to downplay this.
This is fucking dreadful. Ireland is said to be one of the worst places in Europe in regards to racial abuse. We really need to cop on.
Maybe it’s just me but I’ve noticed that this sub is is kind of ignorant in regards to social issues. Not just with racism but with stuff regarding sexism, homophobia, transphobia etc. Honestly, why can’t people just follow the rule “don’t be an asshole” and be done with that.
My mum is from Dublin. I used to absolutely love flying back to Ireland to see my family. My best holidays were spent in Ireland. I only ever wanted to go to Ireland as a kid
But I’m actually now scared to go back. Especially since the pandemic due to growing anti asian sentiment (I’m half Asian). It really saddens me because I never felt unsafe and always felt at home.
One thing I did notice was that I saw a lot more antisocial behavior on the Luas when I was last in Ireland in 2019 than I did all the times I spent in Ireland as a kid/teenager. My mum also says it wasn’t like this when she lived in Ireland. Really sad.
Right that’s it
Everyone down to Dublin Castle we need to have a meeting.
The Lion King, THE FUCKING LION KING!?
This makes me so embarrassed. Thanks racists. Cheers.
Went to go see this only last week. It was amazing! The costumes and sets were all inspired by traditional African art and the singing was fantastic. It was an amazing way to experience a different culture. But this is so shocking that these talented people got racially abused out on the streets. There’s still a big problem of rascism in Ireland but no one really talks about it. There needs to be more awareness of it.
something needs doing .
ngl we are probably one of the most covertly racist societies in europe
