Northeastern Washington State just got blasted as well, probably by the same system, we had dry lightning on Thursday and Friday as well, sparking a bunch of fires. Sounds like the BC interior got particularly hit.
“The B.C. Wildfire Service said one of the primary drivers in the latest spike has been lightning; officials estimate there have been close to 1,300 strikes in the province since Wednesday and 94 new ignitions.”
We’ve had wet and late spring in Eastern Washington, and then start breaking rainless heat records, with dry lightning, the worst lightning. Best to you BC, we like you. Great Province.

So dry wildfires on the west coast, and flooding in the east coast. If only we could fold the two halves together like the old Mad comics and solve the problem.
I see late summer has arrived. The usual tinderbox areas going up in flames yet again.
BC was a long time ago, surprised its being reported only now.
