Number of billionaires in UK reached new record during Covid crisis
Despite year of economic turmoil, 24 people became billionaires in UK during pandemic, taking total to 171
You think that’s bad? Wait until national insurance hike of 7 to 15% comes into play.
I remember on the last election day, so many people were coming back with big shit-eating grins on their faces, as if they just did something really streetwise and clever.
Well we see how clever it was now of the working classes to vote *against* a socialist who is pretty much legendary in British politics for his honest and integrity and had pledged to use the levers of government to seriously help them out.
And they *voted for* a dodgy corrupt Eton Tory with a history of lying and selfishness, whose cronies were all Eton Tories.
Sorry, but it was a stupid act and how many of the people now suffering were Tory voters? They made their own beds.
Strange article but i like the spirit. Not sure it makes logical sense that the first person interviewed about the rising cost of living is an unemployed 19 yr-old mom of two, they’ve never had it easy.
I know what they will do. They will vote Tory en masse at the next election.
Immigrants didn’t cost people heating and food. They helped provide it. Please understand this so we can avoid disgusting nonsense like Brexit in future.
But they thought they were being so clever voting for the Tories and “get Brexit done”.
I moved here for a few year contract about 1.5 years ago. I fortunately “have” the money (e.g. it will probably start eating into my savings) to absorb another insane energy cost increase but holy shit what the fuck is going on. I was used to Canadians complaining about huge energy costs but this is on an entirely different level. It was already more expensive than Canada when I first moved here, but now I’m looking at an increase from £70-£80 a month to something north of £200 in the winter to heat and live in my flat.
I might start counting the days until I can leave this country (as much as I enjoy it and the people) and start applying for jobs elsewhere. Over 50% of my take home already just goes to rent. Let alone the council tax and other utilities.
Protesting is the only real thing they can do. Charities can only do so much and there is no one to help once charity is exhausted. The government won’t help until they are forced to by people, we might finally have reached the point where people are desperate enough to do that.
Anyone reading this from outside of the UK, these views are of a minority. Very vocal and angry minority.
