I’ve got to say, I get so frustrated seeing the left in America and much of Europe be such a fractured mess, often struggling to make political gains due to an unwillingness to be pragmatic and compromise, that it’s very cathartic to see how well the left have played their hand in France with such successful political maneuvering.

    It’s incredible to see how different an outcome can become not by change of policy or rhetoric, but just by properly utilising the mechanisms of the electoral system. If the parties had been more stubborn, we could have seen the national rally have a total stranglehold on the French parliament for years to come.

  32. This is just a trailer of what’s going to happen in the USA. Everyone is already convinced that one party is going to win and have become complacent. They are not even seeing their opponents stealthily working behind the scenes to cobble together an opposing force that will take the nation by storm. Happened in my country too – I live in a third world shithole which had elections this year. The ruling party was so popular that even their biggest critics were saying they will win a landslide. The ruling party became so complacent that they didn’t even campaign at ground level. No one saw the opposition working silently behind the scenes furiously going door to door and making people aware of their manifesto. Come election results day, the ruling party couldn’t even get a majority, and the opposition came this close to winning, that effectively they won by preventing the ruling party getting any kind of real power. Same thing happened in France – everyone was saying this party has already won, and results were stark opposite. I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if the same thing happens in the US, where everyone is saying the younger guy will get 300+, but my bet is that the incumbent old geezer whom the media and the louder voices have written off, will get at least 350, and everyone will be left wondering what happened.
