The Republican Party has always been the party of the ultra-wealthy, corporations, and evangelical Christian nationalists. Anyone voting Republican because they think they’ll get lower taxes and a stronger economy has been duped, and it really saddens me that so many working class voters have fallen for this ruse.
Well when you can convince a bunch of dumb people that all of there problems are because of immigrants then obviously they are going to shift to a party that promises to treat immigrants like sub human filth.
If you can direct people to an enemy as the answer for all there issues they are going to eat that shit up.
The reason stuff is rough for the working class is a very nuanced thing and it’s much easier to create simple scary target to be mad at than to understand the true reason for there situation.
Half of the reason things are so bad for them is because of this shit fucking policies they support when voting for the right.
These people are so terrified of the “socialists” they don’t even understand that more left leaning policies in regards to workers rights and unions is what will help them.
Everyone wants to be successful. Trump is a con man
Yeah, it’s weird. Biden is really working hard to curb immigration, and it’s clear Republicans are standing in the way.
If we want a strong border we need Democrats, because the Republican platform is basically just whatever Trump wants that day.
Wait until Trump’s 10% tariffs on imported goods hit, and his higher income taxes on households making less than $187,000.
Just a reminder U.S. tarrifs are a tax paid to the U.S. treasury by U.S. consumers of the imported items, they not paid by China, for example.

We’re in a post-fact world. People base things on how they feel things are.
The FBI says crime is down and immigrants commit less crime than citizens. However, it feels like crime is up and millions of immigrants cross the border per day.
Trans people aren’t winning gold everywhere or converting kids to being trans. However, it feels like trans people should win everything, and diversity is changing kids.
Obviously, the news is at fault for talking about these things all the time, but it’s supply and demand, dumb people keep watching. Including me, lol
And there’s a picture of Hulk Hogan. You know, the noted academic, Hulk Hogan.
I didn’t even hear a mention of coal workers this time around, they don’t care anymore, never did.
coal miners don’t realize its oil not solar killing their industry
Did the white working class ever leave?
He’s not for the working class you fucking stupid mother fuckers. The whole Republican party is anti union.
Poor white single men have always been for Trump
If the Republican party platform was truly better for the working class, wouldn’t the average citizen be doing better in red states and those states contributing more to the federal government?
Hmmm, these people reject logic for hyperbole, let’s reason with them!
It’s happening for the same reasons Brexit happened in the UK. The white working class has been exposed to international competition with people overseas willing to work for pennies on the dollar in crap conditions because they have few to no functional labor laws.
Having been outcompeted, the Western white working class has seen its social capital and financial stability steadily eroded for nearly 50 years now.
They are not that educated, pumped full of half-baked and poorly considered beliefs about “others” of all kinds, and thus easy targets for con men and authoritarians to sway via propaganda into blaming “others”.
In the UK the “others” were immigrants coming in from Eastern Europe and Africa. In Germany the “others” are the “Turkish people.” In the United States the others are “Mexicans,” “southern migrant waves” and the perennial bugaboo: blacks.
It’s not exactly racism per se, because the Western working class isn’t homogenous anyway and because the “other” in question can be changed to fit local circumstances.
But it is the same everywhere: xenophobia being used as a deflection technique from the real problem, which is a disordered and unfair capitalism structure run by people who aren’t being fair to their own workers.
Capitalism can work just fine when it is transparent, run with ethics in mind, and accountable to the people. If plutocrats get away from transparency or oversight, the abuses happen — and those abuses are rampant right now just as they were at the end of the 19th century.
What we really need is an ethical trustbuster to turn his or her sights on the real problem (corporate abuse and money in politics allowing more corporate abuse). But what we are getting is 1920s style rising authoritarianism.
There’s no quicker way for the working class to dismiss what’s being said than by ending your headline with “says academic”
White working class, Asians, Blacks, young people, Jews, Muslims , blah blah blah. Every week it’s a new group leaving for trump. Starting to see a pattern of campaign bullshit, being promoted by the media .
The United States Government doesnt really deliver for the working class in general. Thats not really what either party is concerned about.
True! Trump is a master at selling the vision but never delivering. His people are so bought in they cannot think for themselves. Let’s be honest, neither party is truly for the average working person. They cater to companies and CEOs
Decades of treating white working class voters like dumb, brutish thugs leads here. The Clinton administration signed NAFTA into law and decimated American manufacturing. This was just one of dozens of acts declaring war on blue collar workers. This set the stage for a fascist to rise to power and use them as political pawns. Have we learned our lesson as a nation? From the way you disparage working class voters, you clearly haven’t.
I used to work on construction sites.
Everybody older than say 50 – like 1% of the workers these days – remembers when the Democrats gave them saftey, better hours, better wages. Union or not.
Everybody younger than 50 only knows those things are slipping away through their fingers. Becoming an independent contractor or putting in 7 day weeks’ of overtime is the only way out. So they now see the Democracts as blocking them.
Honestly I kind of do blame us Democrats. Labor was never supposed to be a “one & done” issue. Pelosi saying investing in stock is a “God given right” really is the wrong thing to say to people who aren’t even garunteed water breaks out in the Texas sun.
As usual, the white working class doesn’t realize that Republicans will happily fuck them over in favor of the wealthy every time. I will never grasp how these people so happily vote against their own self interest
That’s the problem, isn’t it. It doesn’t matter what academics and studies say, it matters what people feel. And Trump for all his awful policy and pomp speaks to how those people feel.
Reddit feeding a constant Trump drip
“Says Academic” is the problem, here. It’s never going to hit home until someone outside the intellectual class starts saying it. And as long as the head of the Teamsters is speaking at the RNC, there’s no chance of that happening
Gas was cheap, unemployment and inflation were low. Many of them were essential workers during the pandemic, so they saw large wage increases and lots of overtime. They really do feel like he helped them.
Biden saw the ravages of the recovery, where all of that was undone. It’s a narrow perspective, but I see it a lot among my peers in a working class career field.
You don’t say………
He did raise taxes on them and blame it on Biden.
Because they believe themselves better than even the smartest most successful black person. They’ve been told Mexicans and blacks are coming for your jobs. They’ll go down as martyrs as long as poc get hurt first.
But the guy who told 30,500 lies in 4 years has made a solemn promise to help them.
I am sure a 10% flat tax so working class taxes go up by 3000 or more will help
a 10% tariff so 99% of what you buy instantly is now 10% more expensive
No more SS so hope you can start saving on your own soon
No more company benefits so enjoy paying full price for healthcare
No more medicare/medicaid so enjoy paying full price for healthcare until death
Oh and no more minimum wage so Mr, Worker you now make 1.00 a hour
will really make it better.
I’m failing to see what Hulk Hogan has to do with the article.
What has been delivered to them by other politicians to keep them around?
Neither party has delivered for those workers in the last 40 years or we wouldn’t be where we are today.
Work?
Work at what?
At being racist, populists?
White working class people moved to trump because they have been taught to hate. Happy to seem them getting screwed by Trump.
Racist white working class.
Trump gives losers something to blame other then themselves. They didn’t lose their job by being a shitty worker, or get divorced because they are a shitty spouse. It’s the Mexicans and Wokeness’s fault.
White working class people are just now moving to Republicans?
Yeah…gonna call bullshit on that. They’ve been gravitating that way since Bush and this is nothing new.
Magas are gonna vote to remove their worker protections. That they don’t even know is at stake.
If your white working class like I am. what are you thinking? Google project 2025 and tell me how any of that helps us
Its not about policy. Its about being anti-woke, and anti-politically correct. Its really that simple, and really that dumb.
