Same shit different day.
10 stories will have Drumcondra a mini Dubai
. Best build nothing for sake of character of the area.
Oh and traffic. God forbid.
>Cllr Donna Cooney of the Green Party said the flood wall, which would be over 6ft high, was an example of “hard engineering” that would block the view of the river.
How long before she is complaining about lack of flood defences when the river bursts its banks.
I saw another post about residents concerned about 150 apartments being built in Sallynoggin. Pardon my opinion but the Noggin isn’t exactly an area known for its “character” and is a dive even with the slightly more updated social housing there. If something is built there at least it will be in line with the newer Honey Park nearby. Just NIMBYism that hates progress.
Looks nice
We deserve the housing crisis
A prime location right in the middle of public transport routes and near most relevant things in the city. 1 and 2 bedroom apartments like this are perfect for young workers etc. who are looking to rent, as usual they’re whinging about it being above 2 stories, less than 3 bedrooms and to rent. When do they plan to stop living in the 70s and thinking we can all have a detached house in the suburbs and 2 cars. Push it through as quickly as possible and ignore the whingers, shocking that the biggest whingers her are the councillors who should working to benefit the area
No wonder we have a housing crisis
Concerned that their selfish constituents that are on the property ladder and are happy to pull it up behind them denying the younger generation a chance as it might affect their property price.
“Not that, not here. Otherwise, I’m appalled you haven’t solved the housing crisis already.” – Every Irish politician and their home owning constituents.
Every new build estate I’m familiar with, has had residents objecting to further development nearby. It’s a sickness in this country.
The Tolka River runs along my back garden. There’s a big tree there to intentionally block the view.
Yet another example of greens blocking any sort of development, # never forget Galway bypass
“British development company Hollybrook ”
This is pure nimbyism, but its state built apartments we need, not build to rent schemes. These types of apartments are just bought by investment funds to charge exorbitant(market driven) rent. If the state provided affordable housing, it would bring that market driven rent price down
. Interest rates are currently at 0% for international borrowing, and there are tonnes of cost saving advantages if its state funded. There is no way they could lose money. If they built a load of these developments they would get money back on sales and rentals.
