  1. Good. As a Canadian, I hope this idiot gets extradition to Japan and they throw the book at him. He is no better than an eco-terrorist and should be treated as a terrorist.

  3. His tactics may be unsavory, but the intent is honorable. I’m all for making some species off limits. Japan’s need to slaughter these highly intelligent animals for greed is unforgiveable in today’s global society. I hope folks like Watson continue to harass these hunters and scare away their prey.

    His ultimate goal seems good, but his approach is just not great tbh and a lot of people dislike him for that

  6. He’s brave, and working on an important cause: the survival of the species. He has my full admiration.

He was kicked out of Greenpeace for being an egotist who centered himself over the actual cause, and former associates who left the Sea Shepherds exposed him for intentionally scuttling his ships for media attention, endangering whales and his crews with dangerous manuevers, and his applauding of the mass death caused by the 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami. His rhetoric has verged on the outright genocidal, and he seems to have no actual genuine morals or motivation to the cause beyond self-promotion.

    His arrest might genuinely be a net benefit for protecting whales just by removing a fraud from the equation.

  10. As a commercial fisherman. I think boats fishing illegally should commandeered, crews arrested, and then promptly sunk.

    However. If there is a managed, regulated whaling industry. Like harvesting of any other aquatic species, taxes and proceeds can be used for studies and conservation.

    The ocean and all of its bounty is* something to behold. But that’s why we need to go far and above what efforts we are currently making, to put a swift end to illegal fishing.
