1. Who cares. The killer will get 3 years and then let out. It’s the UK. Let’s be real, if he fucked the kid he might 4 years or 5. If he stole or committed fraud against any company here he’d of got 10 years.
   Country is fucked.

2. There needs to be some serious work done to combat gang violence in London, the whole thing has gotten absurdly out of hand. Useful idiots will continue to oppose any measures though, complaining about perpetuating racism and discrimination while they continue to murder each other in the streets.

3. This is all going to get so much worse, because the new Ministry of Justice Ministers don’t believe that prisons are an effective deterrent, and so our already soft sentencing approach is going to become even more soft. So the thugs and criminals who run around shanking each other in gang warfare will continue because there will be even fewer consequences in the future.

   I have several police officer friends (the police work essentially independently from the civil service and the MoJ) and their morale is already so low because of the soft sentencing regime – they will arrest people for stabbings or violent assaults and then just a few weeks later the same people will be out on the streets again. And the police know who the really sadistic and violent offenders are because they literally interact with them frequently, but then see them being re-released again and again.
