They should pay more to the doctors and less to management.
Management is fcking up HSE.
So why is it managed so badly then?
How many of them are actual administrative management staff and how many are IT and other specialised staff that were just assigned to the “manager” grade because there isn’t a more suitable grade on the payscale?
Can’t afford nurses but there’s always money for more middle managers.
Working in the civil service I’d hazard a guess and say maybe 60% – 70% of these staff are worth the money spent on them.
The rest will be life long civil servants who got promotions from a mix of being around a long time and a lot of attempts at the interview process.
There are way too many in the civil service opposed to productivity boosting changes mainly because it makes it obvious that the number of staff in certain sections is way to high.
At the same time one office over you will have staff on the same pay working their ass off to meet demands.
In my own office I could very easily get my job done with 2 days of hard work, mabye 3 when we had a busy period in part because I’m good at working quickly but in a much larger part because I’m good at optimising tasks through software. Right next door their staff were struggling because they really needed more people.
Thankfully the new standard for civil service interviews is placing a much greater importance on digital and technical skills that improve efficiency. Only time will tell if this will influence how departments are run.
Folks, that’s not crazy pay considering the cost of living in Ireland. We should be less focused on the pay rates and more focused on if they’re doing their jobs well and implementing ways to remove people who are underperforming.
I just don’t fuckig understand how you can rationalise paying a middle manager absurd salaries while nurses are living on fucking scraps.
Fire all management. Have doctors and nurses democratically elect new management. Have regular votes for management and an impeachment process.
Fuck this top heavy bullshit where cunts run off with taxpayer money to make things worse.
