Dad’s anger after son, 5, spent final birthday alone while Prime Minister ‘held bash’

  1. I am actually surprised someone who didn’t suffer like him hasn’t done something drastic in their anger towards downing street parties. I cannot imagine how they cope.

  2. This is why it’s not something for people to forget or “move on”. It’s a gross overstep of deceit and arrogant breach of the law. The lockdown had serious implications for ordinary people, and we thought we were all in it together.

  3. When people say “Oh what’s the big deal? It was just a party, yawn, let’s move on” I find it right to remind them of people like this poor family.

This whole scandal shows the contempt that Boris and his Tory cronies feel for the average person.

  4. This is the reality, when people say, “it was just a small party and they have been working _very_ hard…”

Yes. Lots of people have been working very hard. People who worked hard all their lives died alone, while government staffers were having a _cheeky_ wine on the lawn… until 3am

Boris and Carrie had a nice party with pals in their flat while huge numbers of people were restricted from attending funerals for their loved ones, and had police quietly disperse “unlawful” wakes.

Working hard in the pandemic and adhering to the rules were not mutually exclusive for virtually every other person in the country. The rest of the public made all the sacrifices to their relationships, friendships, mental health and physical well being AND STILL carried on working hard.

It’s astonishing how many people seem to be giving excuses on the government’s behalf. There’s no excuse and no justification.

  5. Give the man a break, he got the country vaccinated and got brexit done. He earned the right to have a couple of parties.

    /s

  6. I think it’s more than just the fact they’re having all these parties.
It’s the fact that they lie and deceive us all to hide them and cover up the fact that they were definitely never behaving the way they were expecting us to.
Those in power should lead by example and if they do get caught out then ask the lying just makes them seem a million times worse.

It’s not just the act they were caught in; it’s the general attitude that goes along with it that disgusts my people.

  7. People have a right to their anger, what they did was callous and disrespectful and it came from those we believed were acting in our best interest

  8. Do you think Bozza ever reads storys like these and feels guilt? Like how does the dude live his daily life knowing he fucked people like this over.

  9. There’s going to be a thousand of these stories, at least, and they’ll keep on coming until he’s gone, and rightly so.

  10. Don’t forget all those lockdown parties included copious amounts of alcohol. Literally recreational drug use while The Great British public suffer… if you voted for this numpty learn your lesson, you were lied to by a paid for media and the rich do not care about you

  11. Can’t wait for the actual Russian investigation into turned politicians in 50 years once most of them are dead of age and can’t be held accountable, a la Saville.

  12. I think I’m safe in saying that Boris Johnson and the other people he surrounds himself with, are all narcissistic psychopaths. They won’t give two fucks about this family is plight. Anyone who votes for them is as bad as them is this point.

  13. There was a nut job who phoned in to Nolan’s show on five live on Friday night who was arguing in support of Boris. Said this was a witch hunt, that everyone broke the rules. Nolan asked him about all the people that had to die alone while the PM was partying, and his was response was that they shouldn’t have broken the rules and they wouldn’t have gotten COVID!

This is what we’re up against. There’s no reasoning with someone like that. And how many people out there think just like this Neanderthal?

  14. Boris and the Tories hear this loud and clear — and believe me — they understand the loss.

They’re heartbroken that this child could die without the opportunity for the private sector to have made a lot of profit on his care and treatment.

  15. Worth remembering there will be 100s and 1000s of stories like this, and every time a Tory says “the British public want to move on” people will be thinking about funerals missed, first birthdays cancelled, last opportunities to see loved ones.

  16. I’m surprised there’s hasn’t been any ~~attack~~ trespassing attempts on government buildings after all this new shit fest.

  17. Earlier today I spent two hours drowning in my own tears (personal issues). I regret reading this article as now I’m drowning again.

Kip was a lovely little boy and he had his heart ripped out.

    Boris is a heartless monster.

  18. Not that it actually compares but I adopted my son just after his first birthday… A week before his 2nd bday we went into lockdown, and we were also in lockdown for his 3rd. His 4th this march will be the first time we can celebrate it properly.

It infuriates me that 30% of the country are happy with people like Boris.

  19. Poor family, that’s fucking awful, I hope they find some peace, can’t believe we live under a government that behaves like this and treats us like we mean nothing while taking money from us to live their lavish lifestyles

  20. I’m sorry but I wouldn’t let the government stop me and my dying son from having a birthday party.

Nor miss Christmas or other important family events…

  21. Is this the adorable kid featured on Kermode & Mayo’s film review having a great time shouting ‘stinky pants’ in an echoey subway tunnel?

Simon Mayo welling up reading out that he had passed away really had me choked up.

  22. Oh my this is utterly heartbreaking, and the see The clown smirking in PMQ’s when questioned about said parties makes this all the worse. Families traumas were amplified due to this government’s restrictions, so to hear of them breaking their own rules so indiscriminately is totally disgusting.
Our countries political system is broken if such actions cannot result in immediate dismissals (on gardening leave at the very least). These criminals are not fit for office.

  23. Not a fucking chance I’d have stuck to the rules in that instance. Wtf is wrong with people. How fucking mad did we go over COVID? How was this ever allowed to be the case in the first place?

  24. Not only do the have multiple “knees-ups” in Downing street and across government, itself shitting on the people in their darkest hours.

They then deny it, and in effect say “fuck you littler people” until incontrovertible proof is shown, and then they say “fuck you” again.

    The perfect Tory mindset.

  25. I’m just waiting what will break the camel’s back really. We have this corrupt government, rising fuel, energy and living costs. Brexit and a post covid economy. When will the average Brit just stop putting up with it, having a moan and actually enact change.

  26. Well that kid didn’t donate to the Tories and didn’t even vote Tory, so you can’t expect them to give a flying fuck.
