Poland, can’t you do any better? That’s really sad.
I’m not saying everything is fine, but a guy who earns more than most Poles complaining that he can’t afford to send his child to Canada seems like very confused expectations.
People in the article make more money then me, so they can fuck off.
33 zł/hour at start for job without degree seems more than fair.
“because it’s europe”
Belarus is Europe, but they migrate and think they can do anything. So dumb.
Meat factory : “We had night and morning shifts… I [was] standing up for 16 hours on my first day,”
This sounds like dude was working 2 shifts every day. Did anyone force him to do it? I know plenty of Ukrainians doing the same in factories, since they wanted to make more money. A lot of them, were literally collapsing after a month.
Manual labor jobs are hard(especially standing for 8+ hours), this is not US where corporate office jobs are standard. Here manual labor in factories etc… is standard.
Seems like a lot of people just come to Poland as gateway to Western Europe. We had Ukrainian bus drivers here, they gained experience for 2 years, left buses in bad condition and than left to Germany where they can earn 3x more.
It is probably the work agencies scamming them. Painting a picture of Norwegian pay and working conditions as what they could expect, but sending them to Poland. Alternatively, hook them with loans, then rent the workers out and take a cut.
A bit of a ‘how the tables of turned’ moment, given how Polish workers abroad have been mistreated in the past too. Sad to read that these exploitation things keep happening across the Union though.
Scammed by the job agencies, most likely … poor people, welcome to ‘first world’ problems and shenanigans.
The main scam consists in the accommodation ‘story’
People who come from another place have no rent options in the beginning , so the job agencies or who was the contact person will make an ‘offer’, so if you are working for 10 euro/hour, they will just say “hey, how about you get only 6 euro/ hour and we take care of your accommodation, so they pile them up 5-6 people or more in a house that otherwise you could rent alone easy from the 10 euro/hour if you just knew your wat arround.
Happens almost everywhere, even in UK they do it, but in UK the rents are Crazy expensive. And some people really want to save a buck.
