    His opinion is just that. He said things he believes that others may not. It’s not slander, so what is it?

    This is absurd. He offered colourful criticism of her commentary on and knowledge of football.

    That no one in the police or CPS has had the good sense to stop this before it got this far says something in itself.

    If Barton has committed a crime, then half of this sub are guilty of a crime every time there’s a thread about Nigel Farage or any Tory politician.

    Still, this will end up like the girl who was convicted of quoting a rap lyric. Barton will probably be found guilty. Then he’ll appeal and eventually someone with some sense will quash the conviction.

23. Just like so many other things, it’s amazing how quickly free-speech enthusiasts change their tune when it’s them or someone they care about being harassed,

24. Barton is such a moron. This crusade against women was nothing more than a distraction from his downplaying of the racist murder his brother was involved in.

    He was doing the podcast circuit to promote his own new podcast and a clip got circulated where he talked about his brother losing years of his life in prison because of a “scrap”.

    Ironic that the attempt to deflect has landed him in even hotter water. Could not happen to a more deserving bloke.
