  1. And convict people of crimes they performed, right? And not just after the small time crime guys but the big companies/names?

Just getting the money back isnt enough, there needs to be a clear drop of the axe that this kind of profiteering and corruption will never, ever, be acceptable again and that even if the current government of the day allows it, a future government will get you.

  2. Good. Investigate the other instances of Tory corruption while at it please. The public at large could really do with a shock of just how hard they’ve fucked us over so that the Daily Mail ect can’t start publishing “Labour haven’t immediately fixed everything” headlines in a month’s time.

  3. honestly I think this can be a good look especially, as they said, they make back lots of money.

Also things like managers making their employees work remotely while they claimed the 80% covid pay wasn’t uncommon either.

  4. Surely they will Investigate Sunak personally for signing off on the design of the scheme and shocking lack of checks and controls.

  5. Might aswell start up a Rwanda corruption investigation while you’re at it. Just wild amounts of money being swept away with no meaningful substance for the taxpayer.

  6. >The chancellor is understood to believe the Treasury can recoup £2.6bn from waste, fraud and flawed contracts signed during the pandemic.

Much as I would like them to actually do that, although I have no doubt they can identify the money that ought to be repaid, I am somewhat doubtful about the level of success they will have in actually getting any of it back.

I rather suspect that an awful lot of the money is irrecoverable, either because companies have been liquidated, money has disappeared overseas, or the money has simply been spent and a ‘profits of crime’ order would be pointless.

We will see in the reports over the next few years of the money actually recovered.

  7. Is anyone else finding it a lot easier to breathe lately? I feel about 14 stone lighter since America celebrated the anniversary of their independence recently, not sure why

  8. The entire concept of the covid response was corruption.

Businesses were forced to close whilst still being required to pay their commercial landlords rent.

Lockdown was a straight wealth transfer from labour and small business to capital.

  9. By the time these cases actually get to court we’ll be in the run up to the next election

I personally think it’s good the public will be reminded by venally corrupt the last government was
