I’m not really surprised, but it’s pretty depressing how hard our civil service work to block progress in active travel.
We need to get Eamonn Ryan an electric tank so he can go on a rampage to the NTA office
This is scandalous. Is there no accountability or oversight here? I’ve always been perplexed at how cycle lanes get designed so badly with no consideration for the safety of their users. I had no idea people were actively working this hard to hinder progress.
>FOI documents also show that NTA staff said in emails to each other that it was “it is best to avoid going into specifics” around the reasoning.
Fucking cowards. Would that not just boil your piss!?

Yeah I wouldn’t take the training wheels off that journalists bandwagon just yet, it’s absolute bollox in the title. The article unloads a bunch of stuff about ministerial guff and then about 2/3 of the way down starts to explain that the lanes on the Luas line planning conflicted with the approach of the cycling strategy document. Whether or not that interpretation was correct, it’s certainly not the case they they did it to undermine Ryano.
That blogger has also never cycled to Fingils in his life, I’m willing to bet.
So is the minister going to come in and direct that this decision be reversed ? Or direct that these officials be replaced with officials that will reverse this decision?
Will he he’ll.
But he’ll turn up to cut the ribbon on whatever project gets produced and claim the credit.
Not just Ryan. It’s say the same
Of any politician.
But he’s the Green leader. It’s in their DNA to have active travel. Why isn’t he doing something to stop it being actively worked against from within ?
Why would the NTA give a shit what the government says?
Isn’t it the National Transport Authority?
This is bad and all that but why are the worst parts of the city getting links to fuck up other areas?
Tallaghtfornia made a shite of the red line, was solely responsible for the increase of neon and junkies in the city centre and now they are going to give free access to scumbag central.
As well run the next line from the Northside shopping centre.
